The cottage includes all the amenities you’ll need for a comfortable stay, including easy access to I-20 and HWY 110 . Originally built shortly after the Civil War, this cabin has been a silent witness to decades of change, evolving with each era while retaining its unique character. The original structure, with its deep-rooted history, has been thoughtfully expanded over the years. Porches that once offered a simple outdoor respite were enclosed to create a cozy kitchen, and in the mid-20th century, a bedroom and bathroom were seamlessly integrated, enhancing both comfort and privacy. In 2010, the cottage underwent a comprehensive renovation, skillfully preserving its old-world charm while infusing it with modern efficiency and comfort. Every nook of this house echoes with stories of the past, from tales of bank robbers who roamed these lands to whispers of intriguing characters who found solace within these walls. The large deck, a more recent addition, has become a hub of joy and relaxation under the open sky. Today, this cottage stands as a perfect blend of past and present, offering a tranquil retreat with its rustic aesthetics and updated amenities. Guest access The cottage has a large deck attached for outdoor eating and a smaller deck with a pergola on the East side that is perfect for morning coffee and bird watching. A picnic table and park grill are provided for evening cookouts. Other things to note No smoking allowed in cottage, no pets, please, in order to make our cottage friendly for people with allergies. The cottage is located on our farm. While visiting us you may encounter various insects such as ants, spiders, mosquitoes,red wasps, honey bees etc …. Wear appropriate shoes to avoid bites. We inspect the cottage before your arrival to ensure it is bug free. However, if any insects find there way inside during your stay, there is wasp/bug spray under kitchen sink. The washer and dryer are located in the storage building attached to the deck.
