The Historic Upland Lodge, Freedom, NH

Welcome to the Upland Lodge. Featured in the Spring 2017 Lifestyle issue of Sporting Classics Magazine, the historic Corey Ford house affords its visitors a private mountain retreat in a local legend - an awe-inspiring stone and timber lodge set on 10 acres of hilly countryside. Hike the property. Take in the peaceful vistas. Only 5-10 minutes from the closest skiing in winter and lakes in summer. Relax in front of the huge fieldstone fireplace. This home was meant to make memories! The space This is a large, historic rural home on a wooded acreage. It was built ~100yrs ago as an upscale sporting/hunting lodge. Be sure to review the Guide book upon check-in and be abide by the simple rules. The house has 3 bedrooms w/king beds; one w/twin bunks; and one w/a king, a twin, and a 2nd trundle twin. There is a washer/dryer in the basement. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a Keurig. For Summer: There is no A/C, but there are fans in every bedroom & some common spaces. The house typical cools off overnight with back windows open (screens in). Guest access Guests have access to the full house. Guests are expected to pick up after themselves when using outside amenities (grill, firepit, chairs, etc.) (Turn of grill gas, re-cover grill when cool, clean grill utensils and put them away in kitchen closet, etc.) Guests may NOT operate the woodstove without specific approval and instruction from owner. Other things to note Downtown Freedom is 3/4 mile from the house. Loon Lake is 1.5miles. King Pine ski area is only 5 to 10 minutes away. The nearest major grocery store is about 20-25min away in Conway, NH. *** For-profit events/activities are strictly forbidden without advance coordination and written approval. *** Owner cannot control rain, snow, ice, extreme cold or heat. The house does have multiple heat sources (oil, wood, electric built-ins, & portable electric heaters). 5-6 large fans are available in summer, thought the stone construction helps keep it cool. Refunds are not given for weather conditions. Please check longer range forecasts if your planned getaway is weather dependent. You may be able to reschedule online. If there is a local outage, it will be just like at your own home - the local electric company will be called and we will keep you posted. Outages that persist after dark may result in refunds if you choose to leave. *** Please understand NH occasionally has harsh winter weather conditions. Do not expect indoor temperatures over 68F in winter. Snow-plowing and walkway shoveling IS provided, but not instantaneous. The locals who provide these services serve multiple customers, and it may be several hours before a fresh snow is cleared. Also, they may not be available on major holidays like Christmas & Thanksgiving. Snow shovels are on-site, and more are in the nearby detached garage.
