Hike, bike, cross-country, snowshoe, or just inhale/exhale and enjoy the peace and quiet of a classic New England escape. Welcome to Trailside Cottage, a charming getaway in Harrisville, NH. Recently converted into a cozy space for two. It sits alongside one of the many trails in the Harrisville area, and is accessible to all of the amenities in the Monadnock Region. The space This 600 sq ft cottage is perfect for 1-2 people looking to escape the noise and be close to nature. Consider us for your next anniversary, writing/art retreat, or mini-sabbatical. It is a true getaway, and sits on two acres of lawn and forest and is directly adjacent to hundreds of acres of peaceful woods. Your hosts live in the farmhouse next door and are available if needed, or are happy to respect your privacy. The cottage has a large front porch, lovely on summer evenings and a cozy living room and kitchen that have been entirely refurbished. The radiant heat will keep you warm in the winter. Upstairs bedroom has a loft-like feel to it, with a queen-sized bed. There are 1.5 bathrooms and a stacked washer/dryer. Although not a tiny house, the appliances are all apartment-sized, and the newly tiled shower stall is small, truly for one person. Guest access Private parking is available for 1 or 2 cars, and you are within steps to the porch entrance. Guests have direct, on-foot access to miles of trails or a walk down our beautiful road. Your hosts are happy to share some of our favorite walking or hiking routes w/you as well. The cottage is a 25 minute drive to Keene and a 15 minute drive to Peterborough - both towns offer plenty of shopping (antique stores, artisan shops, etc) and great restaurants. High-speed internet is included. Other things to note Nearby Monadnock State Park, features 36 miles of hiking trails as well as its centerpiece; hiking to the summit of Mt Monadnock is a rite of passage in this part of New England. Easy climbs are close by as well. If you prefer to stay closer to sea level, the Monadnock Region is rich with beautiful lakes to enjoy, In the wintertime, the trails are just as wonderful, if you like to snowshoe or cross-country ski. (Two pairs of snowshoes are available - just ask! ) There is an abundance of wildlife in the surrounding area and hope you will be lucky enough to see them.
