On the Mimbres River, near the Gila wilderness, this two bedroom newly-renovated adobe home sits on the mountainside overlooking the valley. Quiet and peaceful, this retreat is perfect for hiking, biking, and star-gazing. Minutes off Highway 35, a designated scenic byway, it is thirty minutes from Silver City and twenty minutes from Lake Roberts. Please be aware that the valley is susceptible to seasonal flash flooding between June and September. The space The house is on 11 acres. It has two bedrooms and one bathroom. One bedroom has a step to go down to. There is a big living room, an eat-in kitchen, and a sun porch. The house is private. I live nearby in case of any problems. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house. You can park anywhere on the property. The house is in a remote area. The nearest city is Silver City, which is about 25 miles away. The nearest gas station is around 20 miles away. It's betst to fill up in the nearest town before you arrive. There is a small grocery store about 7 miles up 35 that has staples. It's worthwhile to grocery shop in town. If you forgot any thing you need, let me know-- chances are I may have it. Other things to note Why Kokopelli? Kokopelli is a Native American god associated with agriculture and fertility. Shown with a flute and dancing, he symbolizes happiness and joy. He is a bringer of luck and possesses healing powers. The name of the house came from the lady who built it. She wrote about that and her experience of life in the Mimbres Valley in a fabulous book called "Songs of the Fluteplayer." The fluteplayer is Kokopelli.
