Description
Transport yourself to a bygone era in a quaint one-bedroom cabin on 10 acres. Originally without running water and electricity, this rustic haven, over a century old, now seamlessly blends modern comforts with its enduring charm. Adorned with antiques, the fireplace invites culinary adventures, while your favorite records play in the background. The wooded trails beckon exploration, stargaze, observe wildlife, and rediscover the simple pleasures of life. The space 680sqft; oak and heart of pine flooring throughout cabin. Cabin was built by workers of a sawmill during the early 1900's. There are 3 steps to get onto front porch; covered and screened in back porch off of bedroom; Marcelyn is constantly changing up the decor!!! NOTICE - you are out in the woods with plenty of wildlife. We do our best to keep down the pests but there might be a bug or two that gets inside the cabin. There are plenty of "dig" sites if you are into old bottles. CELL PHONE SERVICE - we installed a signal booster that works with just about all major carriers, but still may be limited depending on your carrier. No internet unless you can use your hotspot and depending on your carrier will depend on your speed. Verizon works the best. Guest access There are plenty of "dig" sites on the property to search for old bottles and cans. There is literally no telling what you will find, and it is yours for the keeping. Just about all the antiques and oddities inside the cabin are available for purchase, in the welcome book there are prices. We add new items all the time. Other things to note Crafted by Sawmill Workers in about 1910, our 680 sqft Cabin, a labor of love, was revived after 50 plus years of abandonment. David and Marcelyn, passionate about antiques and nature, have transformed it into a haven. As residents of Kennedy, AL, they are dedicated to preserving local history. Your stay at The Cabin contributes to the ongoing journey of creating cherished memories. A little about David and Marcelyn. Marcelyn is a native of Gordo, AL. Her ancestors (Dorroh – from Ireland) settled here in Kennedy in the early 1800’s, well before the Civil War. She currently is a criminal defense attorney in Bessemer, AL. David was born in Birmingham, AL and is the Pastor of Pine Haven Church Ministries and works as a Psychotherapist. David and Marcelyn recently bought and are restoring the original Dorroh homestead that was completed in 1845, about one mile from The Cabin. We THANK YOU, for staying at The Cabin and being part of our story.
