500 year old Santa Cruz House restoration

Hey whats up guys, my name is Juan Carlos. I had a dream to get a place and fix it up on my own. I am currently working on it and what you see is one of the finished rooms. Its a work in progress. There is not one specific way for something to be beautiful. When I first got this place, I felt like it was already a beauty, but it was covered up pretending to be something it was not. For many years, people who were here did not respect what it was. So I began to do what I felt the house asked for, which was not to try to be something it is not, but to accept what it is. And what it is is a 500-year-old house that is proud and comfortable with itself. "I am old and I don’t want to change or try to be something I am not. Don’t make me new. Make me real,” the house said to me. So a relationship began. “What do you want?” I would ask, and it told. Sometimes we would fight. Sometimes we laughed. Sometimes it seemed like we would never get along. But we never quit, and we bonded and became friends. I wanted this room to feel luxurious, like a romantic getaway with beautiful details. The sleeping area is tucked away behind a wall of white curtains that you can close to create the feel of even more privacy. You enter the bed by stepping onto a tiered mosaic platform, which I created with bits of tiles I salvaged from around the house, some 100 years old. When you lie down, you sink into a cushion of pillows — some goose down, some thick memory foam. The windows I made by hand, and when you open them, you look down into the courtyard garden, hear the chirping birds, and feel the orange-blossom-scented breezes of Sevilla. The window seat doubles as a chest, where you can store your luggage, and a closet has been cut into the thick, 500-year-old stone walls — all created by hand. Guest access The house is three stories of 500-year old Spanish history and is open air in all the common areas. Sit in the courtyard garden and enjoy your tea or coffee while listening to the trickle of the fountain. Relax in a shady nook and read a book or write a postcard. Enjoy a restful bath with candles and bath salts after a long day exploring the town. Cook a meal in the rustic style, well-equipped kitchen. Take in the beautiful sunshine and orange-blossom-scented air of Sevilla on the rooftop terrace. The room you rent is your own private area, but the whole house is yours to explore and enjoy. Common Areas: bathroom (shared with 2 other rooms) kitchen (with gas stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, tea pot, pots & pans) dining & lounge area courtyard garden 2nd floor reading nook rooftop terrace (Late July 2016) During your stay As much or as little as you like. I’m happy to give you suggestions of my favorite places to visit and restaurants around town. Or have a conversation about anything in general. Other things to note I travel a lot always looking to create or do cool projects, so I am not always home, but If I am traveling there will be Simon who helped me do the 3rd floor around. Directions to the house : DRIVING I'll recommend you a few places and you can decide which one you want with the information given. I'd suggest to put in your GPS Plaza Santa Cruz to get as close as possible to the house. On the way there you will see advertised an underground parking lot called Jocaral really close to the house, less than 5 minutes walking or so). Is a paid, covered and protected parking garage. Another option would be Av de Málaga where you will see a small lot with cars parked, the cost is 1€ per stay (usually) but the only downside is that is about 7-10 min walk from the house, if you guys choose this last option I'd suggest to go first to the plaza Santa Cruz and unload the baggages and things like that. FROM AIRPORT You can directly take a taxi to the house and it will cost you around 25 € per car and it will take approximately 20 minutes. Please ask the driver to take you to Plaza Santa Cruz as the house is located on a pedestrian street. From Plaza Santa Cruz the house will be 2 minutes walking away. Please use the GPS on your phone as the streets are tiny and is easy to get lost. *There is also Uber and Cabify. It would use the same directions as the taxi. Another option from the airport is to take the airport shuttle bus (there’s only one and you will recognize it by the letters EA). The closest bus stop to the house is called Prado de San Sebastian. It will cost around 5 € per person and it will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes bus ride, followed by a 5-10 minutes walk to the house. Please use the GPS on your phone as the streets are tiny and is easy to get lost. FROM TRAIN STATION The train station is called Santa Justa and to arrive to the house there’s several options. You can walk from the train station to the house is going to take you approximately 20 minutes. The second option is to take a taxi that will take about 10 minutes ride which will cost you around 7-10 € . Please ask the driver to take you to Plaza Santa Cruz as the house is located on a pedestrian street. From Plaza Santa Cruz the house will be 2 minutes walking away. Please use the GPS on your phone as the streets are tiny and is easy to get lost. *There is also Uber and Cabify. It would use the same directions as the taxi. The last option from the train station is to take a bus (line 21) to Menendez Pelayo (Puerta de la Carne) bus stop. It will cost you around 1.50 € per person and it will take about 10-15 minutes ride. From the bus stop the house will be 5 minutes away. Please use the GPS on your phone as the streets are tiny and is easy to get lost. One important thing if you use any bus in Sevilla (and pretty much all over Spain) is that at the stop you have to flag the bus as it won’t stop even if you’re standing there. FROM BUS STATION There are 2 main bus stations in Sevilla so depending to which one you arrive the directions will be different. Prado de San Sebastian bus station This is the closest bus station and the house will be around 7 minutes walking so I suggest using the GPS on your phone to get to the house as the streets are tiny and is easy to get lost. Plaza de Armas bus station You have the option to go walking to the house that it will be around 20 minutes through the city center. I’d suggest using the GPS on your phone as the streets are tiny and is easy to get lost. The second option it would be taking a taxi that will take 10 to 15 minutes and it will cost you around 7-10 €. Please ask the driver to take you to Plaza Santa Cruz as the house is located on a pedestrian street. From Plaza Santa Cruz the house will be 2 minutes walking away. Please use the GPS on your phone as the streets are tiny and is easy to get lost. *There is also Uber and Cabify. It would use the same directions as the taxi. The last option is to take a bus (line 21 or line C4) to Menendez Pelayo (Puerta de la Carne) bus stop. It will cost you around 1.50 € per person and it will take about 15-20 minutes ride.
