The Rainbow Connection is where you connect with nature on a grand scale. Situated high above the village of Dunwich in a peaceful cul-de-sac, it takes full advantage of its location. You will enjoy a spectacular uninterrupted 270 degree vista from the Glasshouse Mountains in the north to the Gold Coast hinterland in the south. Take in the amazing sunsets and unwind as you listen to the many birds in the landscaped gardens and native bushland behind. The space This beautifully furnished and well equipped family home accommodates nine guests very comfortably, with two generous double bedrooms, with shared en-suite, and two single rooms with twin singles. The long leather sofa provides another bed. There's another separate bathroom, very large kitchen and dining room and spacious living room with a large TV and fireplace. As well, there's the wide secure deck with outdoor seating for dining or lounging around. The covered car port'll accommodate several cars or boats and the open paved area has space for more. As a family holiday home, it has all the creature comforts you need for a very enjoyable relaxing vacation. The house's fully screened and wheelchair-friendly. It's well furnished with bedding, linen, towels, etc. The roomy kitchen's fully equipped with a4 burner gas cooktop and electric oven and everything you'd need for a self-catering holiday. The spacious lounge, with its two large recliner rockers & long sofa, also has a heating stove (& firewood). This huge open-plan living area opens out onto a fully enclosed deck. Because public transport is non-existent in this secluded area, you really need your own wheels and should book your vehicle on the barge (Stradbroke Ferries – 1300 787 232) immediately after your accommodation is confirmed. Cost varies with time of travel, so make inquiries. If you don't have your own vehicle, you can book Stradbroke Cabs (0408 193 685) to meet you at either the Water Taxi (Dunwich terminal) or the Stradbroke Flyer (One Mile terminal). Alternatively, you could take the paved bush walking track between Rainbow Crescent & Dunwich. The North Stradbroke Island Bus Service runs regularly from the two ferry terminals to Point Lookout and Amity during the day. Guest access Please feel welcome to wander through the gardens, play ball on the wide green swathe in front of the house. There's a portable BBQ on a wooden trolley in the carport. Other things to note This tranquil island get-away is removed from the tourist strip. However, a short drive will take you to the shores of pristine freshwater Brown Lake and the natural 18 Hole Golf Course and its café with its affordable menu and amazing 360-degree vista. As well, a bit further on, you can walk into unique Blue Lake and its natural environs, and the 20 km long Main Beach. As if that isn’t enough, Amity Point beach, community club, and tavern are 15 minutes away. Point Lookout , about 20 mins drive, has the World Heritage-listed North Gorge walk, six ocean beaches, restaurants, cafes, resort shops and the cliff hanger Point Lookout Hotel.
