Cottage on Lake Huron between Alpena and Ossineke

Bring the whole family to this great place with lots of fun. This rustic cottage is on Lake Huron between Alpena and Ossineke. Great location to bask in the sun, swim, fish, visit Mackinac Island, see Ocqueoc Falls,, ice fish, ski, snow mobile, camp fires and so much more. Amazing spot to unplug and spend quality time with family. The space There are two bedroom, the first bedroom has a queen size bed, closet and floor fan. The second bedroom has a full size bed and there are three air mattresses. There is a large couch in the living room with a fireplace. The sun room has a large couch. The dining room table sits 6 people and the small bar top sits 2 people. There is a full sized fridge and oven. Also a microwave and coffee pot. There are all the usual kitchen items. The home has beach towels, bath towels, washcloths and bedding is provided. There are kayaks and life jackets available for use. Just return them to the porch when finished and always wear a life jacket. The coffee maker is a Keurig Duo so that you can either make an entire pot of coffee or use K-cups for single serve. Guest access This is a single family home on an acre - you are welcome to use the entire property except the garage. The garage is locked and off limits to guests. Other things to note Please bring water shoes if swimming. A professional pest control company has been spraying but you will also need mosquito spray. The logs on the property can be used for beach fires - help yourself. There is some brush stacked up that can also be burned. Please burn fires in the fire pit on the beach or in the house fireplace responsibly. If there is something you need or a problem - do not hesitate to reach out to us. We were able to complete some renovations but there is more to do. This house was built in the 1950’s, added onto a couple times and then purchased by us from a family member. We only AirBNB it because we hate to see it sit empty when we can't be there. Many guests have made great memories there despite the age of the house and that is what is important to us. The house is very special to us but we understand it’s not perfect. If you are looking for a new build home or a hotel type property, this is not the place for you. We would appreciate any issues being brought to our attention so that we can have an opportunity to correct them before you write your review. There is an outdoor camera that points at the public portion of the beach. While this house is literally 75 feet off the shoreline on private property, Michigan law provides that a portion of the beach is "public" regardless. You may occasionally see people walking the shore line and they are within their rights under the law. They may not come up past the tree line and the camera is to ensure that there are not trespassers from the beach side. If you bring an RV to the property there is an additional one time $250 fee. While we have a strict no pets policy (due to a severe allergy in the family) if you bring your service dog there will be a one time extra cleaning fee of $250. Your service animal must be controlled, behaved and on a leash at all times or under the ADA rules you may be asked to leave the property. Emotional Support Animals and pets are not allowed on the property because of the significant difficulty it places on the family member who is allergic.
