The Cottage

This is a rural location. Located on an open hill along a private drive, this newly built -"little house on the prairie"- is surrounded by fields on one end and woods on the other. Nothing but stars at night -no neighbors nearby. Trails and ponds are available for your enjoyment. Swimming* and fishing is encouraged in the warmer months. A small outdoor fire ring is nearby. Hiking in the woods on the far side of the field will be off limits last week of October through thanksgiving. The space It’s really nice. The bedroom - a big comfortable king in a clean/simplistic setting. The sun wakes you up through the French doors that open up to a raised deck overlooking a valley of farm nature. Guest access The Cottage Abnb (now in our 5th season!) is located a good bit into a large piece of property and a working farm which may occasionally and briefly cause closer to the drive. The cottage is in it's own private setting, but the driveway continues past to a rustic log-cabin that will very occasionally see some traffic. Guests can get the land layout from the host greeting. Guests are encouraged to walk the drive and trails and explore the farm. A requirement is to use caution and common sense when doing so -eg: please do not proceed anywhere you have to open a gate -they are there to keep you out and animals in. Other things to note The driveway is relatively long and has some steep grades. Snow and ice can make it slick and challenging. AWD/4WD is recommended in the winter months. Torrential rain bouts -which we often have here in the summer months -can make the drive a little muddy. Most all vehicles will have no problems. Very low-2d-ground vehicles may scrape bottom a little. There are many large trees on the property. Increasingly we have been experiencing higher-wind events. Please refrain from hiking in the woods if you feel the wind to be excessive and use extra caution when traversing the roads and trails during these times. Occasionally limbs (some are big) may fall and trees will uproot from these storms. *Swimming in the pond by the cottage is encouraged in the warm months. Albeit the natural dynamics of the pond will sometimes make it less desirable -result of the natural surroundings and/or the weather. If you expect a swimming experience that is much like an artificial pool, then this pond may not meet your expectations. We think it’s delightful:) The gas cooking stove works great. However, it is very important -for your safety -that it is used only when someone is present. Never leave cook stove on and walk away. Always make sure knobs are on off setting when finished using. Electric floor heaters are available for cold nights. They have 3 settings -low , medium and do-not-use. The high setting should only be used when someone is present. Check temperature of cord if unsure. If it's warm, reduce power or discontinue use. The AC on the wall in the kitchen is operated by a remote. It has a heat setting as well. The gas fireplace usually works great -it requires basic gas appliance knowledge and some “floor exercises” to start . If you have trouble with it -call me. The cooking grill outdoors is fickle. Again, basic gas grill knowledge is required for operation. Lately, the two burners on the LEFT work. Lastly- you may or may not experience unwanted critters and bugs in and around this country cottage. We hope that we don’t miss anything during our turnovers.
