Description
Stay on a farm animal rescue in a 38’ yellow school bus conversion. If you are interested we also host an Airbnb Experience called Life With Farm Animals At Rancho Roben Rescues where you get a 90-120 minute up close encounter with all of the animals - taking time to learn about each of the unique creatures that lives here and the opportunity to interact with them directly. Pet a chicken, groom a pony, feed a goat, take a walk patrolling the fields with our livestock guardian dogs. The space You are staying in an amazing setting in a part of the Bay Area that few realize exists! While you are only 20 minutes from the San Jose airport you will feel like you are in the middle of the countryside. The bus itself is rustic and cozy and at almost 320 sq ft of space you will have plenty of room to stretch out and includes beautiful black walnut flooring, insulated ceiling & walls, AC & heat, a stainless steel farmhouse sink, teak counter top, propane oven/stove, composting toilet & Starlink wireless internet. A king size bed for two, as well as a queen futon make this perfect for solo, fun couples or family stays! Please understand that this is glamping at its best, but it is still more like camping than a luxury hotel. Sometimes the AC cannot keep up with the heat, sometimes the heater cannot keep up with the cold. We strive to make you as comfortable as possible but we just want to set expectations. If you need to shower we have an outdoor one right next to the pool (currently not heated). There is a Natures Head composting toilet on board the bus which is simple to use, sanitary and does not smell! Feel free to watch a video online about it. With a full kitchen on the bus you will be able to make the most of your stay, and anything you may have forgotten we will happily provide if it is available. We love this little ball called EARTH and we are always looking for ways to recycle, reuse and reduce our impact on this beautiful planet! Guest access This is a 12 acre farm animal rescue with a garden and small orchard that is continually expanding. We are currently the forever home to over 100 farm animals and other critters- four goats, three sheep, five pigs, two miniature horses, a full size horse, 80+ chickens, 25 ducks with their very own pond, four geese, one turtle, two livestock guardian dogs, three house dogs, MANY barn cats and one house cat! Everyone gets along quite well and they all love their life at Rancho Roben Rescues! While we welcome you to explore the farm, for safety reasons we ask that you not enter the animal areas unless you are accompanied by one of us. The one exception is the field below the bus with a swing in the oak tree. You can go in there, even if the horses are inside, just make sure you keep the gate firmly chained so they cannot get out. For the safety of the horses and your family, please use quiet voices and calm slow movements as to not spook the animals. Never approach a horse from behind and always be aware of their feet and heads. There is a beautiful swimming pool but PLEASE NOTE the water is heated via air temperature and will only be warm from the end of April / beginning of May through October. Also be aware that at times we rent our pool out through another app so there will be periods during your stay the pool is unavailable for use. We will do our best to communicate any blocked times with you as we get them and many times we get booked the week or even the day of so we cannot guarantee particular available times before your arrival. Should you want to invite additional friends to come over and enjoy the farm during your stay we request that you book our farm tour or rent the swimming pool - Airbnb insurance program only covers those guests who are listed on the reservation. Thank you in advance for understanding, with over 160 animals to care for we have to ensure their safety and security above all else. Other things to note Just to repeat the pool is ONLY heated from the end of April/beginning of May through October. The summer time is when it is at its most comfortable and can get as high as 90F. Winter time is a VERY cold time in the water, like 50F cold. There is no bathtub or shower on the bus- if you would like to take a shower while you are here there is an outdoor shower next to the pool. Currently it is unheated. Please understand that this is glamping at its best, but it is still more like camping than a luxury hotel. Sometimes the AC cannot keep up with the heat, sometimes the heater cannot keep up with the cold. We strive to make you as comfortable as possible but we just want to set expectations.
