Treehouse on the Katy Trail (Bur Oak)
The best of what Missouri has to offer surrounds you at Treehouse on the Katy Trail. This 100-year-old home has been fully renovated in a modern farmhouse style, but it's what awaits you outdoors that will really make your stay here memorable. The Missouri River Valley is a unique beauty that everyone should have a chance to experience, which is why a portion of all proceeds will be donated to Magnificent Missouri, a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and protecting the Katy Trail. The space ** 25 Minutes from Hermann Missouri and 20 minutes from Augusta Wineries. ** As stylish and comfortable as we have made the Treehouse, we want you to get outside during your stay. We want to show you what makes Missouri a destination. Start by walking around the town of Treloar. Take a selfie with the Biggest Ear of Corn in the Midwest. The ear of corn was carved from a famous elm planted more than 100 years ago, around the same time that the historic Treloar Mercantile and Farmers Bank building went up. Get take out from the Treloar Bar & Grill and have a picnic among the Trees of Treloar, a mini arboretum featuring Missouri natives. Spend a day (or two or three!) riding bikes, taking hikes or even just bird and wildlife watching on the Katy Trail, one of the most successful rails-to-trails conversions projects in the country. It’s just steps from the Treehouse door. The corridor of the old MKT Railroad was converted to a trail in 1990 and now welcomes users from all over the world. It stretches 240 miles through some of the most scenic areas of the state — along the Missouri River and its bluffs, through colorful farm fields and under vast tree canopies. Nearby towns that were once whistle stops for the railroad offer unique food, shops and wineries. Pose for photos in the Peers Prairie. Grab breakfast at the KT Caboose in Marthasville. Spend an afternoon sampling wines on the porch at Lost Creek Winery. Enjoy dinner at Lake Creek Winery next to the historic Daniel Boone Monument and original gravesite. When you’re ready for some rest and recovery time, the Treehouse has everything you need — a full kitchen, laundry, wi-fi, and internet, zoned heating and cooling (so each area can be its own temperature), and cameras outside for safety. In the backyard, you’ll find a firepit, grill, and outdoor seating. The Treehouse is split into two separate private sides, the Bur Oak and the Dogwood. The Dogwood side features a king bed and a day bed. The Bur Oak features two queen beds and a pull-out couch fitting 5 guests comfortably. Rent one side or both. The Bur Oak has a full four-piece bath. The Dogwood bath features a large soaker tub that will feel great after a long day of bike riding. The entire house has been completely renovated from top to bottom. Because conservation is a priority to us, the original wood floors were saved, where possible. We also brought in wood from our nearby family farm to accent the design. We love to preserve and protect what we can, whether it’s an old home, a bit of wood, or a patch of the Missouri River Valley. BEDROOM - all beds have been furnished with new Nectar mattresses and high-quality linens (crisp sheets in the summer & flannel sheets in cold weather). Plenty of space to unpack and make yourself at home. PETS - You may bring small or medium-sized pets to the Treehouse for a fee of $25 per night.
