Description
WOW! Massive views, spacious rooms, indoor/outdoor flow, huge windows, sunny, warm (winter), cool (summer), quiet, secluded, enchanting and spectacular workmanship...it's an endless list. This is a very special new house (2020) designed to be lived in with ease. As owners, we participated in shaping the design, choosing the building materials and being responsible for the interiors and the exterior landscaping. The space In this age of environmental awareness, we have chosen to use sustainable or recycled NZ sourced timbers throughout, placed unobtrusive solar panels on all the north roofs, drilled a private bore for pure, un-chlorinated water, and installed a massive geothermal heat-pump system to run the underfloor heating and provide hot water. The rooms are large and spacious; the ceilings are open, high, and built with rough sawn timbers and ancient bridge beams; we've used subtle, warm colours and comfortable furnishings throughout. Demonstrating a blend of industrial and modern elegance, the lounge/dining area has big windows facing south with views straight down Lake Hayes and up into the Remarkables mountain range. Opposite, large sliding glass doors open onto a magnificent covered, sheltered outdoor area that completes the indoor/outdoor flow. The state of the art kitchen and walk-in pantry contain all the necessary bits and pieces and everyday herbs, spices, oil etc...all you need is your preferred food and drink. A rolling lawn down to Lake Hayes enables you private access to the lake shores and the popular Lake Hayes walking/bike track. From the moment you turn into Central Park Ave, you realise you are arriving at somewhere special. The extensive plantings of our neighbours and ourselves draws you in, coaxes you to enter the home, and prepares you for a very special, secluded, peaceful and unique stay at the house on the lake. Other things to note The King beds in Bedrooms 2 & 3 can each be split to easily make 2 king single beds if needed. Bedrooms are apart from the main living area requiring an inside/outside short walk (10-20 metres). Additionally, there is single bed in a small attached room with no heating and open eaves for anyone wanting a fresh air night's sleep. Please note that we charge an additional amount per night for each guest above the first 2. Our good friend, Heidi, lives on the property in a separate small apartment about 15-20 metres from the main house and screened by plantings. She is on hand to assist in any way possible or to answer any questions with her local knowledge. We use a local hot tub service at the guest's cost. Quick and easy to arrange, requires nothing more than a phone call and payment to the hot tub people.
