While staying in this unique and charming country cottage you will sense you have stepped back into a simpler place and time. It boasts simplicity! Established in 1882 as a family residence, then turned grocery store, diner and dancing, river refuge, famous sheriff’s home, carpentry shop, and now transformed into an adorable country cottage; you’ll know you have found that one-of-a-kind find! If walls talked, many fascinating stories would be told of this legendary and long-standing landmark! Our Country Cottage sits near the historical Silverlake Trading Post site on the Caney River just six miles south of Bartlesville, on a paved country road. It’s just minutes away from Pawhuska’s Pioneer Woman Mercantile, Hughes Wild Horse Ranch and Refuge, the Frank Phillips townhouse mansion and the well-known Woolaroc Museum. Guests will delight in their stay at this unique getaway with its picture-perfect backdrops such as the aged front porch with log pillars and the weathered red barn in the backyard. As the sun begins to set for the day, you may step out the back door to the campfire area. Here you can roast hotdogs and marshmallows beside the lingering and crackling campfire or just gaze up at the stars. What a way to wind-down a beautiful day! The whole country cottage setting is truly an escape from time! Guests will have access to a 1000 square feet of living space plus an 8’X36’ open but covered front porch furnished with four rocking chairs and side tables. In back you will find a large open backyard space equipped with a picnic table and seating around the campfire setting. The entire Country Cottage setting exceeds a little more than two acres. We would love to meet with you personally, however, unless you request our presence, we will kindly respect your privacy. Please know that someone will always be available by phone or text to answer any questions or needs you may have concerning your stay or to share historical information about the cottage and/or the local attractions surrounding our area. The Country Cottage is situated six miles or about 8 minutes from Bartlesville in a rural area but yet close to several nearby (unique and common) restaurants, coffee shops, stores, nearby towns, and several points of interest. There is ample parking for small to large vehicles (including trailers needing turn around space) on the west side of the cottage. This parking area will take you directly to the back door for the most convenient entry. WiFi is only available through your cell phone device and may require your physical movement to the front porch or back door area for best service. The cottage is a noted historical site. Its structure and much of its contents are irreplaceable, therefore, indoor pets are discouraged. Exceptions are made for service animals. Three electric mini-split units provide the heat and air conditioning during your stay. The cottage has two separate steps and a small bathroom with a standing shower. Therefore, the cottage does not meet standard handicap requirements.
