Fabulous Farmhouse, Killearn, near Loch Lomond

Newly restored and much loved holiday home that was the original farmhouse is now a private self-contained wing of our home, Glenside Cottage, where we live. In a secluded rural setting, our home and garden is within reach of Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, West Coast, Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh. Cosy pubs and restaurants, wonderful walking, castles, whisky distilleries, quaint villages... Come back to a real log fire and enjoy the big traditional farmhouse kitchen. Well behaved dogs welcome too! The space Glenside Cottage is situated between the villages of Killearn and Balfron, which are each around 2 miles away. We are located up Glenside Farm track. We are licensed with Stirling Council Short Term Lets Number ST00048F. The farmhouse was our original home from 1997. In 2007, we extended the farmhouse (out and up) to make more room for our family. Now that we are back to two, we have moved into the extended part of the cottage and have made the original farmhouse a warm and welcoming space for guests. Our living space and the guest space of the farmhouse are private and separate and each space has its own private entrance. The farmhouse now forms a 'wing' of the cottage. The guest entrance is on the west side of the house and is the original door to the farmhouse. The farmhouse guest space and the little front patio area are private and secluded for guests. The farmhouse has 2 double bedrooms, a small lounge with sofa bed, a bathroom with shower over bath, and an enormous dining kitchen (a fabulous and comfortable space to enjoy together). The big farmhouse kitchen door adjoins our hallway and is kept locked. There are no other adjoining spaces. We love living here and benefit from the harmony and peace of nature and also being close to so many amenities. We will provide you with a 'starter pack' of logs for the fire (more fuel can be purchased locally). The home is lovingly cared for and people of all backgrounds are welcome here. This space is thoroughly cleansed and sanitised before each guest arrival. There is space for guests to park two cars in the driveway. Please note that the WiFi in the house is best in the kitchen. The speed is compromised in the other rooms because of the thick walls. We have placed a TP extender in the lounge and it can be moved and plugged into any room. Mobile reception is quite poor because of our location and depends on your server, but you can pick up quite good reception in the garden. The garden is huge. Your small private west- facing 'patio' area has a table, chairs and a bench (we supply outdoor cushions)....this area is sheltered and, when there is sun, it's sunny from 11am....great for a cuppa or a 'sundowner'! You are also welcome to share the rest of the garden. There is a small natural wood which is good for dogs. The garden is developed in harmony with nature and is mainly either managed woodland or managed wetland. And there is a kitchen garden. But please take care around the stream, the steep gorge and the pond areas. Our home is dwelt in with love and we are so happy to share 😊 Guest access At Glenside Lodge, you will have your own private west facing tiny garden with some seating. Although this side of the garden is very small, you are extremely welcome to share our whole garden which is partly developed and partly wild. The old Fairyglen runs through the garden with a small stream and deep gorge. Other things to note We recommend reversing into the parking space(s) as the gates are 'off-set' and the farm track at any time can have loose sheep! So driving out forward into the track is always safer. Although there is a space opposite our cottage, this is not our land and belongs to the farm and so we ask that you don't use it at all. The farm vehicles use it at different times. Our cottage is on a working farm and the adjacent space and fields are out of bounds for walking because of the livestock and we ask that any dogs be kept under strict control within our garden. There are often sheep and lambs in the field adjoining our garden. The Everhot stove cooker in the kitchen is kept on an ecosetting. We can 'fire' it up for your arrival if needed. It is easy to adjust. We have also a 4 ring hotplate and microwave. Let us know if you have questions about any of the above. We are here to help! Our request is that they do not go into the bedrooms and that bedroom doors are kept shut.
