Casa Kalana blends the authentic Costa Rican in/outdoor living experience to create a comfortable and spacious feeling. Proudly described as a "hidden paradise", our strategic location is a 3 minute walk to the Pacific Ocean. Our heavily wooded canopy is home to monkeys, tropical birds and assorted wildlife only asking you to be still. Come and relax to the sounds of the crashing waves and the gentle tropical breeze. The space Casa Kalana is a unique contemporary home situated on one acre in the middle of one of the last pieces of untouched coastal jungle. Our main feature is our 40' undersea 3D sculpture mural, beautiful original artwork and indigenous masks fashioned by the Boruca, Ngobe and BriBri Indians along with local Guaitil pottery. The heavily wooded property is home to monkeys, tropical birds, lush gardens and assorted wildlife. A surfers dream house with a three minute walk to one of the best breaks in all of Latin America! We have local telephone and WiFi available. We can organize all your special requirements such as a private chef, pre-stocked groceries, fresh free range chicken, pork and local fish. Fruits and vegetables from the Saturday market and the best fresh baked breads, horseback tours, zip-lines and so much more! Just ask! Guest access There are two queen size bedrooms adjoining each other through a common bath/shower. Please knock before entering is a basic rule. The Master bedroom has a Queen size bed as does the Papaya room. Both of those rooms have A/C. The Sunshine room currently has a fold out futon accommodating two people. There is a futon sofa in the living area to accommodate up to 2 more persons. For any other questions, please send them to us, we are happy to help you in any way! Other things to note SECURITY We are mindful that we live in a country that experiences random and opportunistic petty theft. While we strive to maintain a safe and secure household, the success of our plan depends on our guests to be vigilant with locking the doors and windows and insuring that the lights are on EVERY night at 16:30pm. If you are going to be away from the house for more than a few hours, please let me know so I can check on the house more than usual. CLEANING FEE Our cleaning fee of $50 USD is NOT to clean the house after you leave, we expect the house to be returned to us in the exact condition it was prepared for you upon arrival. The cleaning fee is to cover the expenses of laundry, electricity to operate the washer and dryer, and material items consumed while cleaning (brooms, mops, etc) that are changed regularly. A/C We have A/C in the Master Bedroom and one of the guest bedrooms, it is sufficient to cool the entire house (it is made of 100% styrofoam, think Igloo chest) Everyone is responsible for the energy they create and leave behind. I have felt great changes in the house and it is because of the beautiful people who have come here, all taking and leaving their footprints throughout Casa Kalana.
