The space This is our home... we love it and according to most we keep it reasonably tidy. At the same time, we lead rich lives and try not to stress if things get backed up now and then. Rest assured that our listing rooms and linens are thoroughly cleaned before the arrival of each new guest. Same goes for the guest bathroom upstairs-- however, it is a shared space and may at any time reflect some use! If we're around, please let us know if it needs attention; if not, there are cleaning supplies in the hall closet just outside the bathroom. Our kitchen is not the main focus of the listing; if you choose to use it, please note that it is awaiting renovation. It still has full functionality. PLEASE NOTE: If you book within 24 hours of arrival, we may not be able to clean your room until the late afternoon. You're still welcome to arrive as early as 2 p.m. and use the facilities. Guest access Our property includes over an acre of outdoor space with beautiful views and plenty of sun, shade, lawn chairs, a tree swing and a fire pit. We can help you set up a fire if we're available-- the more advance notice, the more likely we can! Between May 1st and October 1st, we also include the use of our kayaks, paddles and lifejackets; these must be reserved at the time of booking if available. Local and regional river and lake access options are plentiful. The kitchen is available for use anytime-- feel free to rummage through cabinets and drawers for cookware, dishes, utensils. You're very welcome to use our fridge, tiny French press and other appliances; we provide free coffee plus sugar, creamer and tea. ***Please note that our kitchen is NOT the main focus of the listing and is likely to be in various states of "lived-in" at any given moment-- think of it as a generous bonus use of our home, and note that our low pricing is in accordance with that! Laundry facilities are in the downstairs bathroom. Please plan to leave a dollar in the hall basket for each load. There's a shared workspace upstairs with a desk and some basic office and art supplies, as well as a mini fridge and microwave. Pets are welcome, as long as they don't have any habits that might disturb other guests or damage our property. There is plenty of space within the home and outdoors to keep pets and/or guests separate as necessary. Let us know your needs and preferences at the time of booking and we can find ways to help ensure your comfort. During your stay We may or may not be present during your stay. One of us will be available most of the time through this website, or we'll arrange an alternate communication plan with you. We also have a few good friends who visit the house frequently; we'll put you in touch with one of them if it looks like we may be unavailable at any crucial times during your stay. If we are around, we'd love to get to know you! Always feel free to make yourself comfortable in the shared spaces of the house, with the awareness that they are a part of our home, not to be evaluated as part of the listing :) Please let us know if anything needs to be fixed, cleaned, tidied or otherwise cared for, and we'll take care of it promptly if at all possible. Fair ratings from guests are important to us, and we prefer to learn about a problem sooner rather than later, in case there's any chance we might be able to take care of it. For long-term guests receiving our weekly or monthly discount: Unless we're expecting other guests to arrive, we clean the bathroom thoroughly every few weeks. Please feel free to use the supplies in the hall closet if you think it needs attention before that. You can also let us know if you'd like us to vacuum your room every few weeks, or if you prefer, you're welcome to use the vacuum cleaner in the upstairs workspace. We do reserve the right to enter the room at any time and check that our property is being well cared for. To respect your privacy, we will try to give you at least a day's notice if we intend to do this. Other things to note Of special note is that we do accept guests with pets, so if you have any allergies or related needs, please contact us before booking so we can ensure our place will be a good fit for your stay. This is a musicians' household, with the potential for rehearsals and house concerts from time to time. We'll let you know at the time of booking if any such events are scheduled during quiet hours for the time of your stay. If there's no music previously scheduled and you prefer the home to stay quiet during your stay, please let us know.
