Our hot tub and view will soothe your mind and body all day and night. Unlike many South Lake Tahoe homes that are dark and hidden in the trees, this is a bright home with a spacious feeling. Guest access Guests have full access to every part of the house except one closet. Other things to note The home is 1,200 square feet, ranch-style, single story. We welcome families with children and/or pets. We are a family and enjoy this space immensely, as have many friends with families. We've tried to make it as safe as possible, such as providing a gate around the fireplace and storing anything unsafe up high in the cabinets, but we can't claim to have comprehensively child proofed the home. We hope you will keep a close eye on your little one. There is a baby mattress, a pack'n'play, a high chair, a play car, and snow sleds available. Please ask about these so we can provide instructions on where they are stored. The home is heated with a central gas fireplace on a thermostat (not central heat). The bedrooms are equipped with heavy duty, very cozy electric baseboard heaters for extra warmth. Notes on the number of guests: This house does not comfortably accommodate more than six adults. The fourth bed is a full-sized futon mattress that lives on the floor of the master bedroom. It can be moved anywhere in the house and sleeps children and singles well. Wintertime snow note: We provide a snow removal service for the driveway. Guests are responsible for clearing snow in the entryways and to/from hot tub during their stay. Shovels are provided. Summertime location notes: This house is about 15 minutes from lake beaches and casinos. That means it's away from the hustle and bustle of town. It is close to many great hiking and mountain biking trailheads, but is not the closest neighborhood to the lake in South Shore. Note on pets: Please make a wise decision when deciding whether to bring your pet. Pets who have trouble with incontinence or who have trouble being left alone (ie scratching, chewing and destroying window shades, doors, furniture, curtains trying to get out) may cause you to incur significant additional cleaning or damage fees that exceed your deposit. Carpet cleaning for pet spots costs between $100 to $200, depending on the number of rooms affected. Our standard cleaning fee does not include cleanup of excessive pet hair on sheets or bedcovers (pets are not allowed on beds), and this could also incur additional fees. Many of our guests avoid these charges by keeping their pets with them (not leaving them alone at the house), using our insertable dog door, keeping pets off beds, closing doors to unused rooms, vacuuming often, bringing their dog’s bed, and even bringing their own sheets to protect beds and bedcovers. We do not automatically charge an extra pet cleaning fee because the majority of guests with pets over the years we’ve hosted have been so respectful and are often even better guests than those who don’t have pets. As long as you can respect the impact of your pet on our home and yard, we welcome you and your pets! A final disclaimer: This is not a staged vacation home. It is far from flawless and is truly not appropriate for anyone with immaculate tastes. We work very hard to keep it nice for ourselves and for guests, and we welcome any and all ideas you might have to help us improve. Here’s to having fun in Tahoe!
