Tenterden has two supermarkets, many restaurants, cafes and pubs. It also has a leisure centre. It is home to the Kent and East Sussex Railway which steams through the countryside for 11.5 miles, stopping at Northiam which is perfect for Bodiam Castle. There are many National Trust properties and famous gardens locally including Great Dixter House and Gardens, Hole Park, Sissinghurst Castle to name a few. Bodiam Boating Station has a cafe and hires canoes and boats as well as boat trips along the River Rother. Rye and the Sussex coastline are only a short drive away and the area has fishing lakes and golf courses. Apart from Biddenden Vineyard, there are a few other well-know vineyards, such as Chapel Down and Hush Heath which are part of the Vineyard Tour, offering tastings of their local wines and beers.
