Falasarna Beach: It takes about 20-25 minutes by car, covering mostly paved roads. This is the closest of the three beaches, known for its sandy shore and clear waters. Balos Bay: Driving to Balos is a bit more complex. The paved road from Kissamos to Kaliviani village takes around 15-20 minutes, but after Kaliviani, the route turns into an 8-kilometer rough dirt road, which takes approximately 30-40 additional minutes to navigate carefully. Once at the parking area, there is a 20-30 minute hike down to the beach itself. Alternatively, many visitors take a ferry from Kissamos Port, which is also convenient for avoiding the rough drive and hike. Elafonisi Beach: This beach lies about 1 hour away by car from Kissamos, with the route taking you along the scenic southwestern coast of Crete. The journey can vary slightly depending on traffic, especially in the summer. 🚶‍♂️🏔️ Hiking: 1.E4 European Long Distance Trail – A segment of this extensive trail starts in Kissamos and stretches through scenic coastal and mountainous areas.
