Our #1 on Airbnb listing! Fully updated in 2026, this is a private, tranquil retreat within our larger 5-bedroom home. The suite is locked off from the rest of the house and has its own private entrance. Guests who love this suite include couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. You reach the Terraced Garden Suite via a side entrance (you must be able to walk up a fairly steep incline) to the rear yard, then down a flight of stairs. We are close to groceries, freeway access, and BART. The space We offer a unique opportunity to rent out a portion of our large, luxury West Coast Villa. This listing is for our Terraced Garden Suite. It is a large 400 square foot bedroom with two queen beds, a kitchenette (includes a Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and counter space). It has its own private bathroom with a walk-in closet. There is a small TV with DirecTV, a couch and a table with two chairs. The Suite is a private suite within our larger 5-bedroom Villa. It is locked off from the rest of the house with its own private entrance. We call it the Terraced Garden Suite because it looks out to our rear yard which is been formed into a number of level flat areas resembling a series of steps. You look up to the gardens from this suite. PLEASE NOTE: Since this suite is located within our larger 5 bedroom home we may be staying in the rest of the house or other guests may be renting the other portion of the house. You may hear typical household noises from other guests, however, we ask all of our guests to respect quiet times between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. The benefit of renting a portion of our larger property is that you get to enjoy the property at a reduced rate because the total cost is being shared by all guests in all portions of the property. If you are not comfortable with this arrangement, then please consider renting our private 3 bedroom Villa II which gives you use of that space exclusively. West Coast Villa sits in the hills of Castro Valley overlooking the valley that includes our rolling hills, partial views of the San Francisco Bay and Peninsula, and many gorgeous sunsets. The home is located just two blocks from a grocery store (Safeway) that is open 24 hours a day. We have easy access to freeways and BART. It is located in a quiet and safe residential neighborhood. This well-maintained suite sleeps up to 4 guests in two queen beds. We provide quality linens and bedspreads. Due to our unique microclimate, we are often 10°F-20°F warmer than San Francisco during the day, and we normally cool down at night with the early-evening fog that rolls in from San Francisco. Enjoy the rear tropical gardens, ripe lemons for the picking, and a Weber BBQ grill. The landscaped and manicured gardens were planted by the owners and are for your enjoyment. You are invited to pick fruit for your personal use from our private “orchard.” We have apples, plums, cherries, Valencia Oranges (for juice), and Navel and Mandarin oranges, as well as lemon trees in season. There are Queen and Pygmy Palms that grace this property. The wide varieties of flowers often fill the estate with an intoxicating fragrance of roses, lavender, star jasmine, orange, lemon, and apple blossoms. There is something fresh for every season. Guest access The Terraced Garden Suite requires guests to climb a fairly steep side access and then descend a flight of stairs. This private suite is located at the rear of the property near the terraced gardens. You have access to the rear gardens and a Weber BBQ. Laundry facilities may be available if we are living in the larger house at the time. If it is rented out to other guests, you will not have access to the laundry. Since this is a shared yard, you must clean up after yourselves in all common areas. If you use the refrigerator, please be sure to close it tightly. We are sorry, but the hot tub, side yard, and patio are for the exclusive use of guests who are renting our larger 5-bedroom Villa. You will not be permitted to use these areas. You do have access to free high-speed WiFi and DirecTV. Other things to note Rates and Rules: - Our rates are based on the total number of guests. - Our insurance and HOA require a list of all guests, including infants, in the count for occupancy. We do charge for ALL occupants. The extra person charge is collected upon arrival or through the platform. - All guests (including visitors, children, infants, day-use guests, etc.) must be registered. No one else is permitted on the property. A violation of this rule will immediately terminate this agreement with no refund. - Our insurance and HOA do not permit events, visitors, gatherings, parties, etc. - Do you need room for more guests? Ask! We also have other properties that may be available for extra guests for an additional fee. - All guests must provide a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.) upon arrival and sign our rental agreement. - This is a pet-free and smoke-free property. - Please use coasters when putting drinks on wood furniture. - We ask that you treat our family home as your own and leave it in the same way as you hope to find it. Neighborhood: Neighborhood noise curfew: 10 p.m. - 7 a.m. - We follow a good neighbor policy, respecting our neighbors’ right to the quiet enjoyment of their property. We maintain Quiet Hours at all of our properties from 10 p.m. - 7 a.m. - Hot tub use must end by 10 p.m. - Parking: There is plenty of free street parking on both sides of the street in front of our Villas. Please do not park in a red zone, in front of driveways, or on sidewalks. Weather: Castro Valley has some of the most incredible weather on Earth. We are close to San Francisco, but we seldom suffer the cold, damp fog during the day. From April through October, you can expect temperatures to range from 70 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit (20°C to 33°C) during the day. We often enjoy cooler nights as the San Francisco fog eventually makes its way across the Bay and stops at the Castro Valley hills. There are significant temperature fluctuations and microclimates throughout the Bay Area, and we encourage you to be prepared for 20-degree temperature swings. Dressing in layers is always appropriate. Planning Ahead: If there are specific sights you want to see (such as Alcatraz), we encourage you to book your tickets in advance, as many of the popular tourist attractions sell out. The Day of Departure: We want your stay here to be one of the best vacations of your life. Please place all used towels in the laundry room. Please place all trash in the outside trash bins. Please start your last load of dishes in the dishwasher. Leave the bedding on the beds – our cleaners will remove, sanitize, wash, and replace them. We will vacuum, clean floors, bathrooms & kitchen (subject to normal and reasonable use). Please note the cleaning fee does not cover: Repairs, stain removal, damage, excessive trash disposal, clearing away unwanted items or garbage, washing dirty dishes or glassware. Use of Home: No parties, events, or unauthorized guests, or unregistered guests We do not permit music, bands, amplified voices, or similar activities outside. Any music or amplified voices inside must not be heard outside and must be shut down by 10 p.m. We do not permit weddings at the property.
