Description
A stylish self-contained cottage in the middle of nowhere, with plenty of outdoor entertaining space and a BBQ. The listing is set on five acres, with a cottage and adjacent cabin. The main house has two queen beds. The cabin (not rented separately and only available for bookings of 6+ guests) has a queen bed and a sofa bed. The cottage has a modern bathroom with shower, and the cabin has its own shower and loo. The living room and kitchen are light and airy. The listing sleeps max 8 people. The space With five acres to explore, there's plenty of space to roam around. Without the dazzle of city lights, it's a great spot for gazing up at the stars on a clear night. There are often wallabies grazing on the lawn and if you're lucky you might spot the elusive wombats at night. There's a wood burner in the house and an open wood fire in the outdoor entertaining area, so you can get cozy even on the coldest nights. Please take your own firewood. FIRE NOTES: the statutory Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) runs from 1 October to 31 March, however it may vary due to local conditions. Fires in the open are not permitted during BFDP (see RFS website for details) There are electric blankets on most beds and hot water bottles available to keep you warm on those cold winter nights. There's unlimited internet (Subject to Telstra Fair Go Policy), and we also have Freeview Satellite TV and TelstraTV just in case, but we think you'll probably be too busy enjoying yourself outside to bother watching your favourite shows. There's a landline for emergencies only as call rates are high. OTHER NOTES: We have moved our chickens to our own home, so unfortunately they won't be available during your stay! Also, this is a bush property, at the foot of the beautiful Mt Yengo. We do our absolute best to ensure a sparkling clean property however, being in the bush, we can not always guarantee that you will not encounter the odd critter or two. Welcome to the country! Guest access You'll have exclusive access to the house. You're free to explore the land, including the seasonal creek that runs through the bottom of property during the wet years. Other things to note Please be water-wise. We are on tank water, so please take quick-ish showers and use the dishwasher rather than washing each item by hand. Mobile phone reception is dire - absolutely none at the house. Make sure you have the directions and the wifi details with you when you arrive. Some operators allow you to use wifi calling if you enable it on your phone. Mobile reception is patchy even at Laguna and Wollombi villages - Telstra has some coverage, Optus is limited, and Vodafone has none. We are quite remote, so arrive with plenty of fuel in your tank, if coming from Sydney, we suggest you fill up in Kulnura. If you get desperate, there's fuel at Laguna, but opening hours are variable. There are some great places to eat in Wollombi and Laguna, but if you want to eat at the cottage, we suggest you bring food and beverages with you as the nearest large supermarkets are 40-50 minutes away in Cessnock. If you pass through Kulnura on your way during the day, you can pick up some great fruit and veg at Sciberras Fresh or there's Laguna Village Providore - but expect country opening hours. If you're planning on a BBQ, then best to grab your meat closer to home. If you'd like to have a fire during your stay then please bring your own firewood. Bunnings and Coles Express service stations tend to have reasonably priced firewood. Registration details PID-STRA-3090
