The German name of the village – Reichesdorf – alludes to the richness of these places. The surrounding hills were in the past the home for vast vineyards, occupying more than 300 ha. Moreover, the many orchards and sustainable agriculture practices contributed to the fame of this Saxon village. Neither is our guesthouse named by chance: Villa Rihuini, as the village was first mentioned in Latin historical documents, will offer you a truly enchanting experience of Transylvanian wine tourism, in pure spirit of this age-long local tradition. Our family grows the largest and one of the last noble vineyards in the village, and has laid the cornerstone of local, rural ecotourism, with over 30 years of experience. We make wine using original tools and equipment, and the entire process is by hand, just as it used to be back in the day. Therefore, a vacation here will not only bring you the joy of local wines, crafted with care, hard work, and passion, but also the opportunity to support the further development of our village’s winemaking tradition. Stay in an almost two-century-old traditional house At Villa Rihuini you will stay in a traditional Saxon house, restored by our family with the help of local craftsmen, using 100% ecological materials (linseed oil, natural wax, water-based paint, lime and water whitewash). The furniture has also been carefully restored, in order to preserve its authentic charm, typical for Saxon craftsmanship. Also, most of the decorations are handcrafted. Our guests will be accommodated in three double rooms, with separate access. The house includes two bathrooms, one with shower and one with big tub (modern, this time) and two fully equipped kitchens. The courtyard is full of flowers, from early spring till late autumn. The colors and perfume of tulips, roses, honeysuckle, and many other seasonal flowers complete the picturesque scenery of Saxon households. A TRUE SMALL PARADISE. Here you can relax in a Hammock, in the handcrafted porch swing, by the camp fire or in the restored barn. In the evenings, you may enjoy dinner along a glass (or two) of our wines, or organize small parties and private events. In the morning, coffee or tea can be accompanied by a delicious, organic breakfast. Our household’s cook is one of the most skillful and experienced in the village. You may certainly expect to have a taste of the local authentic cuisine, based on ingredients grown in our own garden or in the surrounding area. One of our purposes is to support local producers, as we believe this is the only way to develop a sustainable community.
