Carriage House East at George Baldwin House

Description

This apartment is in the "carriage house" behind the George Baldwin Mansion. This is a rustic cabin-vibe unit. Full bed + 2x Twin beds. Great location! This is a simple but great unit for adventuresome non-picky guests. The television has basic channels with digital antenna and the wifi comes from the owner's home across the yard. Grocery store ("downtown Kroger") is less than a block away. City of Savannah SVR-00685 The space This is a cabin-like interior with built in twin beds instead of normal living room seating, and a built in queen bedroom in the bedroom. The kitchen separates the bedroom/bathroom from the living area and only the bathroom has a proper door. There is no door separating the living room and kitchen from the bedroom and the bathroom is only accessible through the "bedroom". So the whole unit is basically an open space except for the bathroom which has a door. The internet signal isn't strong enough for serious work from home but there is a Starbucks and another cafe within 1 block. City of Savannah SVR-00685 Guest access The large sprawling fenced yard is shared with several other rentals as well as the owner. The interior space for this rental (bedroom, kitchen, bathroom) is private. There is another separate apartment on the other side of the carriage house. Other things to note Coastal Georgia has “palmetto bugs” which are giant cockroaches living by the thousands outside. There is no way to prevent guests from seeing them once in a while, unfortunately. Fresh poison just means guests see them slow or dead instead of alive. Again I completely understand how awful they look. We all hate them but are used to them if we live here. That being said, we do not offer any refund to guest who see a palmetto bug in their rental. Parking is free on the public street and you will need to read street sweep signs. One side of Hall is cleaned Friday night and the other is cleaned Wednesday night. You will have no trouble if you read those signs and swap sides accordingly. The maid's fee is per reservation, regardless of how many days you stay. Her fee covers sheets on the Queen bed and Twin beds, 4 bath towels and wash cloths + 2 rolls of toilet paper. We also provide dish soap and bath soap. Extended stays may request mid-stay maid visits and pay the extra $50 fee for fresh linens and a cleaning refresh. The beds are built in bunk style. This makes it less likely to be comfortable for tall people. When you checkout, you are expected to leave the kitchen clean. You are not expected to do any laundry, but let us know if you had to clean something that could stain. Gather up your trash and if you have more than 1 bag take it to the green bins in the alley behind the house. The maid's fee does NOT cover washing your dirty dishes or cleaning unusual messes such as food spills when you checkout. Events, holidays and stays during March & April may require 3 night minimums and/or have higher rates than the standard ones published. This is a traditional vacation rental home, not a “bed and breakfast”. We do not provide food or drinks but we do provide basic cooking and serving utensils, a coffee maker, and dish soap. Downtown Savannah has a major supermarket (Kroger) and a 24 hour market (Parkers on Drayton) so there is no need to pack everything from home if shopping when you get here makes more sense. What to bring with you: A typical grocery run prior to arriving at your vacation home would include coffee, beer/wine, milk, eggs, butter, bread and any other basic groceries you would need for the meals you eat in the home. When it comes to coffee, bring your own ground coffee. The carriage house has a 4-cup drip coffee maker. We do not typically provide coffee but if you find coffee in the carriage house please feel free to use it. You should bring or buy your own napkins, laundry detergent, your own beach towels and beach gear, and your own cooler if you need one. What we provide: We provide toilet paper (2 extras per bathroom), liquid hand washing dish soap, bathroom soap, sheets on each bed, and at least one bath towel for each guest. We do not permit our towels to be taken out of the house which is why you must bring your own towels if you visit the beach. If you find we have left seasonings, oil, dishwasher pellets, or any unopened food or drinks then of course feel free to use what is there. We occasionally leave items but just cannot promise them all the time. Please also note that in Savannah, sugar ants can smell cookies, spilled sugar or syrup, or an open sugar container from a mile away and will find a way in through a windowsill or door frame. It can be somewhat like a cartoon picnic where they march in a line to find the food. To avoid this try to keep your snacks contained in air tight baggies, the refrigerator, or buy single serve packets and put the trash in the outdoor trash cans as soon as possible. The following is standard Savannah Luxury Rentals information: We provide sheets, toilet paper and soap. If you prefer thick cushioned toilet paper bring it along but use it sparingly in our older plumbing and never flush "flushable" wipes or other products that are likely to cause a clog.
