Green River Cottage Retreat
Cozy Cottage Along Idyllic Green River
Our 3 bedroom cottage is situated along the Green River on a quiet dirt road 20 minutes from Brattleboro. Bask in the beauty of rural Vermont—sit on the front deck and enjoy the sounds of the river and stargaze while surrounded by the enchanting beauty of the rolling hills. Right outside the door you can walk, bike or jog for miles alongside the picturesque Green River. Our cottage is the perfect place to relax or enjoy all the area has to offer. Perfect for couples, families, friends. Located in Guilford, Vermont, we are a 20 minute drive from Brattleboro where you will find the nearest grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations, so please plan ahead;) You will also travel on about four miles of dirt road to get here. We have a fully stocked kitchen- plenty of dishes, cutlery, cookware, cooking oil, spices. Gas range/oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, toaster oven and programmable drip coffee maker. For entertainment we have a Roku device so you can stream TV and movies on our 55” flat screen. Hand drums, board games, dart board in patio area, adult and children’s books, as well as coloring books/crayons and children's toys are available as well. **No baseboard heaters upstairs, so it stays colder than main floor during cold weather, but we have lots of extra blankets to keep you toasty warm. We suggest placing one of our fans (on low) at the bottom of stairs to push the warm air up. In the summer it is hotter than the downstairs, but we'll have a fan in each room to help keep you cool, and there is an A/C in the bedroom that has the full size bed. There is also an A/C in the downstairs living room. Fans will be there all year for those who like white noise for sleeping.** *Winter tires or AWD/4WD are highly suggested during the winter months.* *No need to bring bottled water. We have the best tasting well water in Vermont!* You'll have access to the entire 1,300 sq. ft. house and private yard with a picnic table, gas grill and fire pit. We converted the garage into a patio area with dining area and dart board—open the garage door and let the outside in. The front deck allows for additional outdoor enjoyment. Access the brook behind the barn, or river across the road, our property is bordered by Roaring Brook and Green River. We won’t be at the house to greet you. We respect your privacy and will not drop in. We do live right down the road if you need us for anything. We live in an area popular with bikers, walkers, and runners for the MILES of quiet country dirt roads. Stroll, bike or jog the 3.5 mile loop around Pulpit Mountain, which is bordered by the Green River and Roaring Brook. If not feeling that ambitious, walk down to the covered bridge and dam, which is a flat 2.5 mile round trip...or walk for miles South into Massachusetts. If hills are more your speed, we have that too! Just want to relax? The Green River Crib Dam offers a swimming/wading area, and a lovely shaded picnic area with the covered bridge and Green River Church as a backdrop... Or just sit tight at the cottage and enjoy the rolling hills from the deck and enjoy meals and libations from the patio area or backyard picnic table.
