A unique, spacious, comfortable, detached listed cottage in a wonderful village with easy access to an array of fantastic and fascinating destinations including a host of historical and cultural hot spots! Surrounded by beautiful countryside you will love to explore! The space The Old Reading Rooms - A Grade II listed property dating back to the 1500s. For some time it was used by the Linton Literary Society for young men of the village to meet, read papers and play billiards (the old cue housing can be seen in the lounge). Prior to that, it was The Old Coffee House - as indicated by the black mask that can still be seen over the front door. The property has also been subdivided and has been home to a number of families over the years. We purchased and spent a year lovingly renovating the cottage liaising with the listed buildings officer as well as building control adding a peaked roof to the kitchen extension to be more in keeping with the mansard roof on the rest of the cottage, dividing the large space upstairs into bedrooms and a bathroom. Breathable wool insulation and acoustic fibreboard were used to insulate the old lathes and plaster, acoustic secondary glazing was used alongside the old sliding windows to ensure warmth and full sound insulation - to ensure up-to-date heat retention and leaving residents feeling completely cocooned from the world outside. Guest access You will have the entire cottage for your use including an enclosed patio area. Accessed via the cobbled market square there is a front door directly into the cottage and a gate into the patio area with entry to the cottage via the french windows Other things to note The small sofabed in the lounge is 114 cms wide and 175 cms long which is smaller than a small double. Please bear this in mind when considering the guests who will sleep on it.
