With bright, boho-chic interiors, Pie in the Sky is the ideal backdrop for a one-of-a-kind mountain getaway. We use Pie in the Sky as our second home so you will feel like this is your mountain house, just show up with clothes to wear, some groceries and a smile on your face. We take care of the rest! -2 separate living spaces so if folks in your group want to play a game or watch TV, other folks can read or talk in the other -Location, location, location- in the heart of the high country (Walk to Hawksnest for snow tubing or zip lining, Grandfather vineyard is a must and right down the mountain, and a short drive to Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk Valle Crucis, and Beech Mountain). FAQ: What do I need to bring? Clothes, personal items and food. We provide linens, disposable paper products, bath products, cleaning products, some disposable kitchen items (foil, salt & pepper, olive oil, basic spices, coffee & tea), and games & cards. Do I need 4 wheel drive/AWD? If you are traveling in the winter, yes. If you are traveling in the summer, no. Do NOT pull down the driveway if you DON'T have 4WD no matter the weather. You may park in the gravel parallel to the road in front of the house. The roads are paved all the way to the cabin, but they are steep and if snow or ice is on the ground you will need 4 wheel drive or AWD. Is your home ADA accessible? No, Pie in the Sky is not ADA accessible. The driveway is somewhat steep as are the stairs inside (they have a gate at the top). Stairs are used to gain access to the property as well. If you have mobility issues please contact us directly to determine Pie in the Sky is appropriate for you and your guests. Is the property secluded? No, Pie in the Sky is in a gathering of houses that all take advantage of the amazing views. We provided high quality window treatments and privacy screens for the hot tub. We have had the honor to host many honeymoons, elopements, engagements and anniversaries as well as family and friend getaways. We do NOT host events. If you have any questions, please contact us directly. Guest access The entire house is yours except our owner's closet. We are in a gathering of round houses right above Hawksnest (snow tube in the winter, zip line in the summer), 1 mile from the Otter Falls trail, right up the mountain from Grandfather vineyard, and a couple of miles from the Lowe's grocery store. 20 minutes from Boone, Banner Elk and Valle Crucis, and Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and 25 minutes to Blowing Rock, 30 minutes to Appalachian Ski Resort and Beech Mountain Ski Resort. Our quaint neighborhood is quiet and all take advantage of the views. Other things to note **4 wheel drive is a MUST during the winter months** The roads are paved and not dangerous. If it snows or is icy, you won't be able to get up or out without four wheel drive. The roads are plowed so you will be fine as long as you have 4 wheel drive. If you don't have 4 wheel drive, please DON'T pull down the driveway even if it isn't bad weather, you can park parallel to the road in the gravel if front of the house. The stairs in the house are steep (we replaced a spiral staircase). We have a gate at the top to keep them safe for kids.
