Spacious 2 Bedroom Apartment, off-street parking, tennis court & patio. Private entry to a large upstairs section of Braeburn House on a beautiful park-like 1.25 acres in the quiet Bannockburn community of Bethesda. Self check-in to 2 large bedrooms, en suite large bathroom w/ 2 showers & bath, big screen HDTV, DirectTV, AppleTV+, etc., hi-speed WiFi, microwave, fridge, Keurig & more. Perfect for singles, couples or families visiting family/friends or working in Bethesda/DC. 2 night minimum. The space At Braeburn House, you have a separate entrance to your private 1,585 sq. ft. space, which consists of 2 spacious adjacent bedrooms with 4 beds and a large en suite bathroom with two showers and a bathtub. Bedroom 1 has a king-sized bed and a daybed/trundle that converts into 2 twin beds. Bedroom 2 has a full size bed and a twin bed. If requested, Bedroom 2's twin bed can be moved into Bedroom 1 and the desk moved into Bedroom 2. Both bedrooms have door locks from the inside, ample closet space, luggage racks, ceiling fan/lights with remote control and alarm clocks and high speed WiFi (>300 Mbps download & >200 upload speeds). Bedroom 2 is suitable for working remotely with its desk. There is an Ecobee temperature sensor in Bedroom 1 and guests can control the temperature in the space through the downloaded Ecobee app. A large en suite bathroom has both a shower and a bathtub/shower combo. Guests in both bedrooms have private access to the bathroom either through the walk-in closet that connects to Bedroom 1 (through two sets of doors) or from the hallway. Both of the bathroom's doors are lockable from the inside. Bedroom 1's amenities include: - two dresser drawers - large screen HDTV. - An Apple TV can be used to watch Direct TV, Apple TV+, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Paramount+, HBO Max and our large "house library" of recent movies & TV shows. You can also use the Apple TV to sign-in to any of your streaming services which you may subscribe to, including the Peloton app - the HDTV swivels so you can watch TV on the two comfortable reclining chairs and the daybed - Blu-ray player, Sony hi-def radio for your additional enjoyment. Bedroom 1's walk-through closet contains: - mini-fridge - small microwave - Spring water cooler - Keurig coffee maker with K-cups, tea, creamer pods, sweeteners & coffee mugs - Coffee maker, kettle and toaster - Brita filter water jug, water & wine glasses, plates, bowls, eating utensils, cutting board, wine bottle opener & ice bucket (ice is available upon request) - Shampoo/conditioner, soap & other toiletry items, hair dyer, additional pillows/blankets, paper towels, tissues & disinfectant wipes - Iron, ironing board & clothes drying rack - DC area guide books & maps, chess set, backgammon set - Power cords, flashlight & fire extinguisher. - Two large & two small umbrellas are located on the front landing for guest use. Bedroom 2's amenities a desk, lighted make-up mirror and large closet. Towel refreshment is available during your stay. In addition, Guests can make arrangements with our live-in housekeeper for overnight laundry service for a seperate fee. Guests have access (weather permitting) to the House's private tennis court and adjacent patio. Coolers and a Solo Stove fire pit are available for guest use upon request. Log bundles can be purchased at the nearby Giant Food in the Westbard Shopping Center. Several bikes are available for guest use upon request. TRANSPORTATION: We are under 3 miles or 10-12 minute drive by car or Uber to both the downtown Bethesda Metro Station and the Friendship Heights Metro Station. Both Metro stops are on the Red Line to Downtown DC, which takes you into DC in about 30-35 minutes. There is public parking at both stations: Friendship Heights Metro Station - I suggest parking in the Bloomingdales’ indoor parking lot, which is accessible off of Jenifer St. Walk to the very back of the Bloomingdale’s parking lot to the doors down to the Metro Station. You don’t need to go into the store itself. Alternatively, you can find metered street parking on Jenifer St. Downtown Bethesda Metro Station - I suggest parking in the Metropolitan Public Parking Garage 49 at 4805 Edgemoor Lane Bethesda. There s a Metro bus stop on River Rd just a 3-5 min walk from the house (*) for a T2 Metro Bus that goes directly to the Friendship Heights Metro Station. The T2 bus takes about 10-15 min to get the Metro Station. The T2 bus is every 30 minutes during the week and 30-35 minutes on weekends. (* walk up the house driveway, turn right on Braeburn, turn right at the corner at the end of our property, walk up the hill towards Pyle Road. At Pyle Road, you will see a pathway on your left that will take you to the bus stop on River Road. The return bus stop is on the opposite side of River Road (at Walt Whitman High School). You can take the T2 bus in the other direction (north) up River Road to Potomac Village and its shops and restaurants. The T2 bus line ends at Rockville Metro Station (also on the Red line). To get to the northbound bus stop just cross at the cross walk to the other side of River Road. Printed copies of the T2 bus schedule are in the rooms. THINGS TO DO: Take a walk around the community. Our street Braeburn Parkway is a cul-de-sac. However, if you go to the corner of Braeburn & Pyle and make 2 rights you can walk around the leafy Bannockburn neighborhood. You can walk (or bike) all the way to MacArthur Blvd and the Glen Echo Park and Clara Barton National Historic Site, Cedar Island Conservation Park and the Cabin John Several bikes are available for guest use upon request. You can also walk from our House walk to Walt Whitman High School, its baseball/football fields and through to its surrounding neighborhood. Walk up the house driveway, turn right on Braeburn, turn right at the corner at the end of our property, walk up the hill towards Pyle Road. At Pyle Road, you will see a pathway on your left that takes you to the cross walk to cross River Road and walk to the back entrance of Walt Whitman High School. Use the nearby hiking & biking trails: the Capital Crescent Trail from downtown Bethesda to Georgetown, the C&O Canal tow path and the Glen Echo bike trail along Macarthur Blvd to Glen Echo & Cabin John. The Irish Inn at Glen Echo next to Glen Echo Park is a great place to enjoy a pint of Guinness or an Irish meal. The Inn has traditional Irish music on Monday and Thursday nights and friendly staff. Walk at Great Falls National Park (Maryland side): Great Falls National Park is a series of magnificent rapids and waterfalls on the Potomac River with great trails and scenic views, especially along the boardwalk path to Olmsted Island. Great Falls is a National Park so there is an entry charge on most days. At the Park, you can take an easy stroll along the C&O Canal to the boardwalk or partake in more adventurous activities such as hiking the Billy Goat Trail, kayaking, rafting and rock climbing. The Old Angler’s Inn is close-by on Macarthur Blvd and they have fine dinning as well as an outdoor beer garden with live music and a big fire pit on Friday-Sunday afternoons & until around 9pm. The OAI’s beer garden serves burgers, pizza, salad etc on Fri even gins and Sat & Sun afternoon to early evening. Its a fun place! Washington DC Destinations: include the Lincoln Memorial, The Washington Monument, the Smithsonian Museums, Georgetown, the National Zoo, the National Cathedral, etc. I always recommend an evening visit to DC, especially to see the Monuments at night. I would drive to do an evening visit. Even with traffic you won’t save a lot of time taking the Metro. Normal drive time is 25-30 minutes.Then parking near the Lincoln Memorial on the road adjacent to the Potomac River Basin to the south of the Memorial - or on Constitution Avenue. From the Lincoln Memorial you can walk to the Vietnam War Memorial, Korean War Memorial, WWII Memorial and even the Washington Monument. On the way home stop by to see the Iowa Jima Memorial, the Air force Memorial and the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. Free parking is available at all three memorials. CLOSE-BY RESTAURANTS: There are many excellent restaurants nearby to choose from: Upscale to Moderate: Mon Ami Gabi, Mussel Bar & Grille Bethesda, Black’s Bar & Kitchen, Woodmont Grill, Medium Rare, Spanish Diner, Cesco Osteria, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse & Morton’s The Steakhouse are in downtown Bethesda. The Capital Grille, Clydes, Cheesecake Factory & Maggiano's Little Italy are in Friendship Heights. Millies Spring Valley is nearby on Massachusetts Ave provides fresh, California Baja-style fare with a coastal vibe. Casual: Bethesda Crab House, Luke's Lobster, Terrain Cafe, Five Guys, Cava and more are all in downtown Bethesda. Not Your Average Joes is on Old Georgetown Rd & Democracy. Westfield Montgomery Mall has California Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, Corner Bakery, Tara Thai, Ledo’s Pizza and a large Foodcourt Diners : My favorite traditional breakfast diner is Tastee Diner on Woodmont Ave in Bethesda. The Original Pancake House and Silver (a little more upscale) are also on Woodmont. Old Georgetown Grille is on Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda Latin/Spanish/Mexican: Jose Andres’ Spanish Diner, Guardado’s, Uncle Julios, Casa Oaxaca, Gringos & Mariachis, Fish Taco, Guapo’s, California Tortilla and Chipotle are all in downtown Bethesda. California Tortilla is in Cabin John Shopping Center. Italian: Mamma Lucia, Pines of Rome, La Panetteria, Chef Tony's Fresh Seafood Restaurant, Positano Ristorante Italiano and Trattoria Sorrento are in downtown Bethesda. Maggiano's Little Italy is in Friendship Heights. Asian/Chinese/Sushi: My favorite Chinese restaurant is House of Foong Lin on Willow Lane in downtown Bethesda. Raku-An Asian Dining & Sushi has the best consistent sushi in Bethesda. Also in Bethesda are Peter Chang’s Q, Bangkok Garden, Wang Dynasty, Himalayan Heritage, Chercher Ethiopian Cusine and Passage to India. Yirasai Sushi is in the nearby Westwood Shopping Center and I get take-out from there regularly. Hanaro Sushi and Satsuma are in downtown Bethesda. Meiwah is in nearby Friendship Heights Pizza: Matchbox Pizza and Anthony’s Woodfire Pizza are in downtown Bethesda. Lidos Pizza is on River Road in the Whole Foods shopping center Pubs: The Irish Inn at Glen Echo next to Glen Echo Park is a great place to enjoy a pint of Guinness or an Irish meal. The Inn has traditional Irish music on certain nights and friendly staff. World of Beer, The Barking Dog, Tommy Joes and Caddies on Cordell are in downtown Bethesda and are good places to watch sports and have a beverage and burger. It also has Bethesda Co-Op Grocery Store and a US Post Office. Another close-by US Post Office is at 6107 Harvard Ave. in Glen Echo. CLOSE-BY GROCERY STORES: Whole Foods, 1.5 miles south on River Road Giant at the Westbard Shopping Center, also 1.5 miles south on River Road Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter, Target & Trader Joe’s in downtown Bethesda Safeway & Shops at Sumner Place, 3 miles away at 701 Sangamore Road, Bethesda Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market on Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda Pesca Deli is Bethesda’s fresh fish & fine foods market and its sister store Butcher’s Alley offers fresh meats. Both are on Bethesda Avenue next to Bethesda Crab House. ICE SKATING: Public ice skating, including skate rental, is available at Cabin John Ice Rink in the Cabin John Regional Park. GAS STATIONS: There are many in the area and the closest are on River Road going into DC. The cheapest by far is Marathon Gas at 5143 River Road. DISTANCE TO NEAR-BY ATTRACTIONS: Our House is a perfect location for guests working in the Bethesda area, visiting family or wishing to explore the DMV (DC, MD, VA). We are: Under 3 miles and 8 minutes by car to the Bethesda Metro and Friendship Heights Metro Stations, both on the Red Line for a 30 minute train ride to downtown Washington, DC. There is ample indoor parking adjacent to both stations. Alternatively, Uber/Lyft drivers are always in the area 2 miles to Bethesda Row with its excellent restaurants, shopping & movie theater. Guest access Braeburn House sits in the Bannockburn neighborhood of Bethesda, which is very walkable and safe. We are the first house on the left of Braeburn Parkway, a quiet and heavily treed cul-de-sac just off of Pyle and River Roads. From the 495 Beltway, Guests will take the River Road (MD 190) South exit for 1.5 miles and turn right on Braeburn Parkway. There is a turning lane onto Braeburn Parkway from River Road. Parking is available for two guest cars on our private circular driveway. We ask guests to park on the circle by the tennis court. Unloading luggage can be done in front of the garage next to the Guest entrance. However, we ask Guests not to block the garage for extended periods. Additional Guest cars should be parked on the street. There are a number of enjoyable walking & biking routes from Braeburn House to Walt Whitman High School, downtown Bethesda Row, Glen Echo Park, Clara Barton National Historic Site, Cedar Island Conservation Park and the Cabin John Trail. During your stay You have your own private entrance and your space is completely locked off from the rest of the house. Guests can make arrangements with our Housekeeper for overnight laundry services. We utilize Airbnb’s five-step enhanced cleaning protocol between guest stays. Host is open to interactions with you and is happy to answer any questions and provide recommendations about the Bethesda/Washington area, including restaurants, shopping and walking/biking trails nearby. Otherwise we will be respectful of your privacy. Other things to note Maximum # of guests is 6 unless pre-approved by the host. The quoted nightly rate is for up to 4 persons; or 2 adults and up to 4 children under 18. There is an extra $15 per person nightly fee for a 5th or 6th adult; or an additional adult after 2 adults and 2 children under 18. A maximum of 6 people is permitted in the space. There is ample indoor parking adjacent to both stations. Alternatively, Uber/Lyft drivers are always in the area 2 miles to Bethesda Row with its excellent restaurants, shopping & movie theater.
