Our goal at Western Maine Yurts is to provide our guests with a four-season lodging option that is as connected to nature as possible. We aim to give a luxurious camping/glamping experience. We hope you will embrace being unplugged and pause to listen to the rain on the roof, birds singing, and the breeze blowing in the trees. Enjoy a cozy cuddle on the couch with your favorite drink. Get out and explore all that Western Maine has to offer! The Ellis is named after the local Ellis River. It is tucked in a stand of evergreens within a 128 acre parcel. Chandler Brook runs through the majority of the above mentioned parcel and meanders through a large marshland. Access to the front door is via a gentle inclined path. The side door gives access to the trash bin. Inside the yurt you will find a kitchenette complete with a draining sink, Stanley insulated water jug, propane camp cook stove, enameled dinnerware set, Stanley cookware and coffee French press, silverware, and serving utensils. It is fully furnished with a bar table, 6 barstools, couch, 2 arm chairs, coffee table, and a timber frame loft area! The loft area has a lower queen bed and an upper queen bed. *Note* bedding is not provided. Up to two dogs are welcomed with a pet fee of $20/night per dog. Doggy bags are provided for pet clean up and are located at the front door. Ample hooks are placed throughout the yurt for hanging jackets and drying wet gloves and hats near the fire. The yurt is equipped with a small solar system that powers the 12v LED lights and 4 USB outlets for charging phones, laptops, and iPads. *Note* guests should bring any adapters needed to plug into USB ports. A guest binder inside offers instructions for the solar power, stoves, a site map, and Bethel area dining and activities guides. Solo stoves are provided for outdoor fires year round. Along the stone seating around outside, guests will find 4 adirondack chairs under strings of lights along with stacks of firewood and cast iron fireplace tools. Baskets of fire starter and kindling and lighters or matches are located inside. All provided at no additional fee! This yurt is one of three located within a short walk to the bathhouse. The interior of the rustic/farmhouse style bathhouse feels warm and inviting. Stained concrete floors are throughout and guests will enjoy the radiant heat on their bare feet when getting out of the shower. The bathhouse has large rustic tub sinks for washing dishes and filling the water jug provided in each yurt. It houses a ladies’ and gent’s side, each with 2 private hot showers and 2 toilet stalls. There is a handicap accessible toilet stall available in both bathrooms. We do not live on site, but our staff are all local and available to assist as needed. We will also regularly be on site to manage the property. Message us with any questions or concerns. Bethel has so much to offer! Whether you like to hike, bike, canoe, swim, fish, hunt, downhill ski, snowboard, cross country ski, snowshoe, enjoy fine food, or just watch nature Bethel is the place to be! Local Ski Areas include: Sunday River Mt Abram Carters Cross Country Ski Black Mountain For the foodies at heart, Bethel hosts a variety of restaurant options which can be found on the Bethel, Maine Chamber of Commerce site. Here you will also find links to a wealth of entertainment options from the local Gem movie theater, River Lanes bowling alley, Davis Park skate park and playground, Bethel Outdoor Adventure Center mini golf, and abundant outdoor opportunities. Local tips........... The Bear, Wild, and Sunday River are the ultimate local rivers to find great swimming holes for the family. By driving along them you can find great spots to sunbathe, jump of ledges, and soak in the water. The Androscoggin River is a great spot to canoe, kayak, fly fish, and sit and enjoy. In fact this is where you may find founder/owner of Western Maine Yurts, Alex Poland and his family. They spend most of their free time as a family along its riverbanks, fly fishing and recreating. If you want to rent a canoe, kayak, or tube and take advantage of a shuttle service look into the Bethel Outdoor Adventure Center. For the bikers Bethel has an ever growing number of trails. Mt. Abram features a downhill park and Bethel Community Forest has multiple trails. Barker Mountain Bike can help out with bike repairs and directing you in the right direction. Need doggy day care for your pups while you're out adventuring? Try Tucker's Dog House or Barker Brook Doggy Daycare and Kennels. Up to two dogs are welcomed with a pet fee of $25. Please note that dogs are not to be left unattended in the yurt, must be leashed on the property, and should be cleaned up after. Doggy bags are provided for pet clean up and are located at the front door. *As noted in the listing details, bedding and linens are not provided. You will need to bring your bed pillows, sheets, blankets or sleeping bags for the weather, and towels for showers. Mattresses are queen sized. **Outdoor fires permitted in Western Maine Yurts Solo stoves only.
