Description

Gorgeous in every season, this 2 bedroom, 2 bath historic cabin backs to wilderness and has amazing views of the surrounding mountain peaks. Located on the base of Pikes Peak, Hidden Falls Cabin is just 10 minutes from Colorado Springs but it feels like a world away. Take in the views of surrounding forest and rock formations from your morning soak in the hot tub or under the outdoor shower. The cabin is an ideal destination for a restful retreat, a romantic getaway, and adventure hub. The space Hidden Falls Cabin, with a nearly hundred-year history, is tucked away in the beautiful Cascade canyon. Our family lovingly updated the cabin to keep its original character and the evidence of its story, while adding comfort, convenience, and a little boho flair. The result is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind mixture of modern mountain luxury and rustic charm. The cabin is perched on a beautiful hillside at the edge of a quiet, residential neighborhood and is walkable to food, wine, & more! Not to mention incredible hiking out the front door! OUTDOOR SPACES + The upstairs deck is private with an ample sitting area, two hammocks, and two loungers. You will barely be able to see another house as you sit and take in the amazing views and listen to the sounds of the seasonally running creek just down the hill. Enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub after a day of adventuring up Pikes Peak or on one of the many hikes in the area. In winter, there is nothing as wonderful as a hot tub sit while fluffy snow falls on your head. The outdoor rain shower (seasonally available from early/mid May to early/mid October) has both hot and cold water available, looks out to the wilderness behind the cabin, and is a most invigorating experience! Also it makes a great cold plunge! + Outdoor dining for 6 is located on the patio just outside the lower level kitchen and dining area. Incredible views of the surrounding mountain tops. Gas grill and grilling tools provided. LOWER LEVEL | KITCHEN & DINING + On the lower of the 3 stories, you'll find the kitchen/dining room which is fully stocked with everything you need to cook and serve a beautiful meal. Stainless steel appliances, a gas stove, granite countertops and a fully-functional wood burning stove for heat and plenty of coat hooks to dry off those winter clothes after your adventures outside. Feel free to use any available spices and oils. We provide several coffee options, including a Keurig (upstairs in the sunroom), a french press, a grinder and a traditional coffee maker. +Tucked off the kitchen, the laundry is also available for use. Laundry detergent and dryer sheets provided. MIDDLE LEVEL | BEDROOM, SUNROOM, LIVING ROOM, & 2 BATHS + Luxurious king bedroom with large picture windows and incredible views. USB outlets located at each nightstand. Original his and hers closets. Please keep in mind there is not an attached bath. + Large open living room with a beautiful EPA-approved wood burning insert for warm, cozy, and safe enjoyment of a crackling fire. Masonry is original to the house. Plenty of blankets for cozy nights in the sky chair or leather sectional with a cup of tea and a good book or movie. Wood is provided. In the cupboard behind the sectional you'll find a variety of games, puzzles, and books for warm, restful fun in front of the fire. Stream entertainment on the nice-sized TV with Roku. A surge-protected USB charger and power outlet are available behind the TV. + The bathroom at the top of the stairs features a beautiful claw-foot tub for your soaking delight and a stunning stained-glass window original to the house. Open the window for a view of the rocky peaks from the tub. + The second bath features a shower and views of the mountains and deck if you choose to keep the blinds open. + The sunroom's splendor is its enormous picture windows and oversized pillows. Together with the queen-sized daybed and vintage swivel rocking chair, this room boasts breathtaking views. In the summer, leave the door open and enjoy the sounds of the creek. On snowy days, wrap up in a warm blanket and watch the snow fall. If you prefer to sleep in such a dramatic space, turn the daybed mattress over to its memory-foam side for a wonderful night's rest. All the bedding you need is in the drawers beneath the daybed. We've also tucked a Keurig and a selection of hot tea in the room so that you can enjoy a hot bevie without even going downstairs. UPPER LEVEL | LOFT BEDROOM + The rustic loft bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, a convertible sofa and a small desk for laptop work, writing and creating with the perfect peek-a-boo window with views of the surrounding mountain tops. Keep in mind the loft is above the living room and doesn't have a door, so it offers visual privacy from other members of your party who may be seated in the living room, but not much noise barrier. The south-facing window looks to the house next door. There is also private access to a trail that will lead you straight to the hot tub and outdoor shower. Guest access Guests have access to the entire property except 2 locked closets. Other things to note + Sleep in peace on super soft linens which were laundered in a professional facility to ensure the highest possible amount of viruses and bacteria are utterly destroyed. + The cabin is three stories and nearly 100 years old. It will feel like a 100 year old cabin's old school layout, including some narrow and interesting architecture. Most of our guests find this adds to the charm. + It is full of stairs and original wood flooring inside and out, which due to their age are both beautiful, creaky, and uneven/inconsistent. + There are about 30 stone steps from the lower parking area near the garage to the front door, with natural terrain in between. Indoors there are stairs between the kitchen/dining, the main level, and the loft bedroom. Please consider whether this is the right space for you if you have mobility concerns or simply don't want to get your steps in! + There are also several enormous boulders and steep drop-offs as well as unprotected wood-burning stoves which also could make the house unsuitable for those traveling with young children. + Sorry, but weddings, commercial photo/video shoots, and similar events are not allowed at Hidden Falls. The house is too old and parking too limited to accommodate such events. Please reach out to us if you need help finding a venue for your event. + Even though Hidden Falls is conveniently located a mere 10 minutes from the nearest Walmart, you still get a wonderful Rocky Mountain experience--including the drive! We are at 7500 ft elevation, so please plan for possible snow from mid-late October until May. Our steep but short gravel driveway is located on a sharp curve and may develop ruts after a rain fall or snowmelt, so a good AWD/4WD vehicle (especially in snow) will help ease your access to the cabin. + There is additional parking below the driveway and a lit, lovely path to walk from there to the cabin through the trees. Please be aware that the beautiful path is a mixture of nearly 100-year old stone steps and natural terrain, and it may be icy and snow-packed in winter. We have provided two walking sticks for your convenience and do have snow removal services for more than 2" accumulation. Our family has lived at the cabin as our full-time residence in the past, and we have never had a problem navigating the driveway in our AWD minivan. + Depending on your provider you may experience limited or no cell-reception at the cabin. We do provide Wifi that is *mostly* reliable and fast, but we do experience occasional outages. + Absolutely no outdoor fires allowed. There are frequent fire bans and high fire danger, so please protect our wilderness. You may smoke outdoors when local fire regulations allow, but please take care to ash only in the trays provided and to completely extinguish all butts. + Please be aware that we share our land with bears, raccoons, and other critters. They are opportunists! Please do not leave trash or food outside or in your car. We have provided bins in the utility room where you may keep bagged trash until check out. + We reserve the right to collect ID directly from our guests before allowing access to the property. This is in addition to identification you may be asked to provide to the booking platform. + Absolutely no pets are allowed. + Our team sets out linens appropriate to the number of people on your reservation so please make sure your reservation accurately reflects the number in your party. Be aware that we charge a $30/night fee for additional guests after 4. + Check in is at 5pm and check out time is by 10am. We do our best to accommodate early check in and/or late check out requests. We offer these based upon our housekeeping team's approval as their schedule can be demanding and for an additional fee of $20 per hour if granted. Please note, the earliest check in time available is 2pm and the latest checkout time we can accommodate is noon. + The house feels private, but is very close to neighboring homes (about 10' on one side and 30' on the other). You may see and hear our wonderful neighbors, and please be ready to be considerate and neighborly with them as well.
