A five minute walk to the beach and less than a mile to the world famous Pavones surf break, we offer a superb holiday home (remodeled in Aug 2022) with all the comforts and amenities you need for an unforgettable time in the tropical rainforest of southern Costa Rica. Located on 16 acres of jungle populated by monkeys, sloths, toucans, frogs and butterflies, and spectacular sunset and ocean views, Casa Siempre Domingo is the ultimate family vacation rental in Pavones, Costa Rica. The space Casa Siempre Domingo is about 75 meters up a small mountain that is located one mile south of the small village of Pavones. From the infinity pool and house, it offers breathtaking views of the sunset, ocean and the biodiversity hotspot Osa peninsula every day of the year. The house was built in 2002 in the typical Costa Rican style using three beautiful tropical hardwoods: Cachimbo, Teak and Amarillo. There are four bedrooms of 160-230 square feet (15-21 square meters), each with its own bathroom and air conditioning unit. The rest of the 6,000+ square foot (550 square meter) house is open air, with screens surrounding the entire house. There is an infinity pool located just below the house, with a gazebo and charcoal grill. The house is situated on 16 acres of pristine tropical jungle. If you are patient, you will see howler, squirrel (titi) and white-faced capuchin monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, sloths, iguanas and morpho butterflies. If you are patient and lucky, you will see ocelots, glass frogs, wild boar and many rare birds. Some jungle animals, such as snakes and scorpions, can be dangerous - it is important to always be aware of your surroundings and wear protective boots when on the grounds outside the house or hiking on jungle trails. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to prepare your own meals. The two local supermarkets are located less than one mile away, and you can purchase fresh fish at the beach most days. If you want an expert chef to prepare your meals, we highly recommend Herman Mejia Solis, a Pavones local who trained for years at a well-known French-Indian restaurant in the United States. His seafood curries are amazing and he makes beautiful and tasty sushi and sashimi too. Guest access Casa Siempre Domingo is located in Pavones, a small village in Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica. It's a 5 minute walk from the house to the beach and about a 20 minute walk (1 mile/1.6 km) to the village center. The roads are not paved and have large potholes everywhere. Guests can rent bikes and ATVs in town. 4X4 vehicles are available for rent in Golfito at the marina about a mile from the small airport - they are highly recommended in the rainy season (all year except Jan-April). There are no ride-share programs like Uber or Lyft. Local taxis are available almost anytime for longer trips. Taxis are not generally used for short trips around town. The property manager for Casa Siempre Domingo is Gustavo Kalen. He will help you plan your visit, greet you when you arrive and help make sure you get the most out of your Pavones stay. He and Henry, the house caretaker, can help you find the best surf spots, rent an ATV, book a whale-watching boat tour, take a chocolate-making class, go horseback riding on the beach, or find jungle hikes full of amazing animals. Other things to note Some guests visit Casa Siempre Domingo to recharge in the jungle and enjoy peace and quiet away from the constant highway and background noises of city and suburban life. You can lounge in the infinity pool, do yoga, hike with friends on empty beaches, participate in a baby turtle release at the local sea turtle sanctuary, or take a chocolate making class. Some guests come for the adventure. There's world-class surf at multiple local breaks including the famous Pavones Point, one of the longest waves on the planet. If you are a beginner and want a lesson or just want expert surf advice, we highly recommend surf instructor Keny Gomez, a charismatic Pavones local who patiently teaches beginners and also helps experts up their game. Not a surfer but love the water? Take a boat ride into the Golfo Dulce, one of only four tropical fjords and one of the deepest gulfs in the world. Its calm, protected water and rich nutrient base attract all manner of ocean life, including humpback whales, dolphins and whale sharks. Don't like the water? Rent an ATV or motorcycle for a day to explore the surrounding area, ride horses on the beach, or visit the Osa Peninsula and take a guided jungle tour in the Corcovado National Park, one of Earth's most biodiverse hotspots.
