Close by are Ullswater and Haweswater, and excellent high level walking. Other nearby attractions and activities include the Lowther Castle and Gardens, Askham Hall Gardens and café, Dalemain historic house, Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre, Ullswater steamers, Hallin Fell, Aira Force waterfall, horse riding, mountain biking, climbing, fishing, sailing, windsurfing and canoeing. There are two delightful pubs and a village shop, a mile away, in the neighbouring village of Askham. The attractive market town of Penrith is just 10 minutes drive away.
