Description
Weardale Cottage is situated in the village of Saint John's Chapel in Upper Weardale in the AONB of the North Pennines. The village is well served with a shop and two pubs and tea rooms. The cottage is cosy and ideal for that much needed restful break. The surrounding area is great for walkers and you can get away from the crowds, visiting High Force, the most spectacular waterfall in England or walk the Weardale Way which goes through the village. The cottage has all the comforts of home. The space Weardale Cottage is really well appointed with all the comforts of home. We have two bedrooms each with super king size beds, which can be converted to twin beds if preferred. Both bedrooms are spacious with walk in wardrobes. The bathroom has a roll top bath and separate shower. Downstairs we have a comfortable lounge with a cosy wood burner. The lounge has a large settee with lots of cushions, perfect for relaxing on after a long days walk. We have numerous maps and walk suggestions for you to borrow and browse. The kitchen is newly updated for 2022. Brand new appliances and units. All the appliances are of the highest quality with a SMEG fridge freezer and Neff cooker.We also have a small utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside we have two secure sheds, perfect if you need to bring your bikes. The TV has Freesat as well as on demand channels such as I player and Netflix. Weardale is a wonderful area which is quiet and undiscovered. There is plenty to do in the area being ideally situated for Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District and Durham. The natural environment has thriving bird life including black grouse, curlew and lapwing and red squirrel thrive. Rare plants such as the spring gentian are found nowhere else in England. High Force is close by, the most spectacular waterfall in England. The charming market towns of Alston and Middleton in Teesdale are nearby. Long distance walking paths including the Pennine Way, Pennine Journey and the Weardale Way are all close by. You cannot fail to be charmed by the area and I am sure you will love it! Guest access The guests have use of the whole house. Other things to note The nearest electric car charger is in Stanhope at the Durham dales centre. We are not covered by our insurance to allow charging from the cottage.
