Description

Only 5kms from Healesville, Minkara offers peaceful surrounds only minutes away from the finest restaurants, cafes, wineries, brewery's and some of Victoria's largest tourist attractions. If you are using Map to find us, please enter 539 Healesville Kinglake Road Chum Creek and you will find us just over 5 kms on the left side of the road on the way to Toolangi. The space Minkara Homestay is a self-contained studio style setup in the idyllic Yarra Valley in Victoria, offering comfortable accommodation close to Healesville and its popular wineries, restaurants and cafes, National Parks, Healesville Sanctuary, RACV Club, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery and racetracks. Deceptively large, Minkara offers rustic but stylish open plan living with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable queen size bed, lounge and dining areas and breathtaking views on 10 acres. During winter, you can warm yourself by the open fire (wood provided at no extra fee) or enjoy a relaxing bath in our double bathtub (bubble bath provided). An ideal romantic getaway or a place to relax, Minkara Homestay is LGBTI friendly. We are NOT a bed and breakfast, so we don't provide food (there is tea and coffee). We do however provide a fully equipped kitchen including oven, stove, microwave and dishwasher. There are two local supermarkets: Coles which is open until late, and Aldi, as well as an organic farmers market on every Saturday morning until 1pm. Or just head down into Healesville and enjoy some of the great pubs, cafes and restaurants nearby. The cabin is heated by a full size Coonara wood heater as well as a split system for heating and cooling (please ask for assistance if you do not know how to light the fire). There is also a ceiling fan. We ask if you can please remove your shoes when entering the cabin. Please bring slippers in winter as the floor has rugs but can be cold. There are loads of bicycle and walking tracks nearby. You can bring your own bicycles, or you can laze around our property and admire the scenery, wildlife, including kangaroos, echidnas, wombats, birdlife and our horses. Please note pets are not permitted as we do not have fences to restrain your pet (and the wildlife don't like being caged in). We have adequate paddocks for you to bring a couple of horses which you can ride out from the property. Guest access Check in details: Check in is from 2pm. Check out is 10am but we are flexible with these times as long as there is no crossover of guests, so please ask prior to arrival. We will send you check in details a few days before your stay, including our address (Google Map might confuse you as our road has two names). Please note we have a locked front gate so we will send you the gate code prior to check in. You can park your car at the front of the cabin. There is plenty of space. Our animals: You can pat our horses over the fence but please DO NOT ENTER the horse paddock without permission. Do not approach the kangaroos as they are wild, territorial and can become aggressive if you get to close. You are free to move about the property and down to the spring fed dam, which is quite deep and cold. Swimming in the dam is not permitted and not fenced. Other things to note Operating instructions on how to use the fireplace and oven available. Brochures on things to see and do in Healesville are available. Puzzles and board games provided. Candles for bath provided.
