Pond Cottage is situated in a quiet and peaceful rural location on an ancient farm, making it a pefect countryside retreat The detached cottage is bursting with character and has been sympathetically restored to ahigh standard using local materials and now offers comfortable and cosy holiday accommodation. The setting is private right next to a large picturesque pond. The cottage has it's own south facing enclosed garden with lovely rural views. The space The ground floor of the cottage is semi open-plan, featuring a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen and a light and spacious but cosy living room with slate floors and a cosy wood bruning stove. The oak staircase leads to a dedicated work-space and 2 double large bedrooms both with en-suite shower & wc. The cottage festures exposed beams throughout and many roof light create a light an airy space. The majority of the furnishings are antique which add to the character and style of the property. Guests have full access to a secluded outdoor pool (un-heated) which is occassionaly also used by the owners. Guest access Our guests are welcome to walk all areas of the farm and use the pool. Pond Cottage is in the grounds of our 150 acre, 500 year old, stone built traditional farm. We keep sheep and a lot of free ranging poultry. There are 3 apple orchards, a magnificent arboretum, now maturing nicely and established by John many years ago. He also planted, a grove of 350 Giant Redwoods, grown from seeds and there is a beautiful, secluded outdoor swimming pool. Other things to note Our farm lies in a very quiet part of mid Devon, with very little light pollution. On a clear night the stars are impressive. Our nearest village is Witheridge, 2.2 miles away where you will find 2 shops and a pub with good food. In the opposite direction is Rackenford, 3 miles away with 1 shop and a very 'old' gastro pub.
