River Meadow Camp Cottage
Description
We welcome you to come and visit our little piece of heaven perched on the low bank of the Grand River. Meadow River Camp cottage is tucked into a sheltered corner lot where you can stay in your bathing suit all day and bask in the sun from sunrise to sunset. All you need to do is bring your holiday mindset and we do our best to ensure that you have a wonderful cottage experience in this sheltered river meadow on our beautiful island. The space River Meadow Camp Cottage offers you the closeness to nature found in a campground but it has the comfort, convenience and privacy of a cottage. Under giant birches, River Meadow cottage has been built out from a motor home\bus with the addition of a bedroom with a queen size bed, a half-bath, a living-room which has a single bed at one end of the room. There is a small cabin at the back of the main cottage with a full bathroom ... shower, toilet, sink, and washer and dryer as well as a set of bunk beds. This sleeping area would be suitable of an overnight guest or teenager. It would not be suitable for pre-teens as they would feel scared. The back patio is perched (literately) on the riverbank and offers a lovely place to read, snooze or sip a glass of wine while watching the sunset. The tide is out most of the day and young children can splash around in bathtub warm water chasing minnows and hermit crabs and never get deeper than up to their knees. For those who like to have a refreshing swim, the tide is high enough for a swim in the morning. The tide is always out during the summer afternoons. Most guests explore the Island during the day, and visit one of the National or Provincial Parks to swim and enjoy our sandy beaches. Shore shoes (water shoes or old sneakers) are recommended to protect tender feet from the occasional oyster shell. The bus kitchen is fully stocked and has an electric stove, dishwasher, fridge, a dinette booth, a single bed and a half bath. The motor home part of the cottage has a ceiling height of 6ft. If you are taller than 5'.10" and you are the chief cook this cottage might not be for you. The main part of the cottage is standard building height. This camp cottage is not fancy (no granite or steel for those who need modern and sleek), but it has everything a young family, a couple or a few friends need for comfort and convenience with the added pleasure of privacy, lots of lawn space for kids and puppies, no vehicle traffic and the river outside you door. Sleeping areas: 1. Bedroom with a queen size bed with a half-bath. 2. The front room has a couch and chair for TV watching and a single bed for sleeping and TV watching. Sometimes the youngest child sleeps on the couch. 3. There is a single bed up in the bus and a sliding door to close this area off at night. There is a half-bath built on at the end of the bus and one has to do a bit of duck and cover to get to thr bathroom and if you are of a senior age or very tall the bed in the bus area may not be convenient for you. the bedroom would be perfect for you. 4. Behind the cottage, there is a small cabin with a washer and dryer and a full bath with a shower, sink, and toilet. There is a set of bunk beds in this small cabin where teens or young adults can sleep. There is Satellite WiFi at the cottage as well as a 45 in. Samsung smart TV with Amazon Prime and Samsung cable tv. stations. There is also a DVD player and a small collection of movies. The cottage is literately on the river bank and the water is a short one minute stroll on the board walk . On the patio facing the river you will have a birds-eye view of well ... the birds on the shore and fabulous sunsets. The kitchen area of the cottage is a bus that has been in the family now for many years and we know the day is coming when we have to say 'bon voyage' but not ... yet. Guest access If possible, we like to communicate with our guest twice before they arrive. 1) A day or two before their arrival date. The guest lets us know their expected time of arrive. Email, text message or a phone call is fine. 2)A text message or a phone call to say that they are on the Island, or they are leaving Summerside and they expect to be at the cottage at 'such and such' a time. This way, I can plan to meet them at the cottage. It does not matter to me if you arrive at 4:00 pm or 10:00 pm or later. I am nearby and if I cannot greet you that evening, i will drop by for a minute the next dayto say 'hi' and to answer any question they may have. If you have been traveling all day please have dinner, or if you wish, shop for groceries or refreshments before leaving Summerside. This way you can put your feet up, light a bonfire, etc. without having to turn around and go back into Summerside. You don't need to bring out a lot of groceries at one time. The freezer area in the fridge is small and sometimes people decide to eat dinner before they come back to the cottage, or bring home fresh seafood for supper. Then they have to leave a lot of their food behind or pack it and take it with them. Summerside is only 20 minutes away and you pick up fresh food on the way out to the cottage. Other things to note The water is shallow when the tide is out during the day. It comes in during the evening and this is a perfect time for a sunset stroll or for children to play in the bathtub warm water. The tide is high in the morning, and this is a perfect time to go swimming. Most guests have a leisurely breakfast, pack lunch if they wish and then head to a National or Provincial Park. They then they come back for dinner and a bonfire. Registration Details 2101147
