Modern Villa with amazing views

Casa Kennedy is a large modern house sleeping 8-10 Open plan kitchen diner leads to double height living area with separate snug 4 double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 1 en-suite Above ground Pool Games room Set in 6 1/2 acres with panoramic views of the beautiful countryside, 2 local restaurants within 10 min walk Reservoir for swimming 1.5 miles Nearest town, Messines 15min drive Nearest beach 35min drive Antonio our caretaker lives in the annex attached to the house. he is out at work everyday The space The large open plan ground floor has 2 patio doors which lead out onto the side terrace where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful views, this leads down to another larger terrace perfect for sunbathing after swimming in the pool or playing badminton or volleyball. The front terrace has a large oak tree with a swing and rings attached, this makes it a lovely shaded area great for lazy lunches or relaxing under. You can also have a view of the pool from this terrace There is a separate games room opposite the house, with table tennis and darts. Above ground pool Messines, is the nearest Market town, with a bank, shops restaurants and morning market selling fresh local products Silves, approximately 20 minute drive. A large Moorish town by the river, with a lovely castle and Church at the top of the hill, morning food market selling local products, shops, restaurants, and supermarkets. Various Beaches approximately 35 minutes The nearest beach is Almacoa de Pêra, with plenty of restaurants, it’s a beautiful long sandy beach and you can walk to Gale beach along the sea front Guest access Guests have sole use of the entire house and land surrounding the house Other things to note Water All our water comes from an underground bore hole, it is fine for showering and cooking, but we wouldn’t recommend drinking it. Rubbish There is no rubbish collection from the house, please take all your rubbish to any of the large bins you find on the side of the road. There is a secure bin outside the house for your use. There is recycling for bottles outside the first restaurant and at the supermarkets in Amorosa. Air Conditioning Please don’t leave these units on all day if you are not in the rooms, electricity here is very costly, the rooms will cool down/heat up within about 30 minutes of the unit being switched on. BBQ’s Due to the very dry summers and lack of water no BBQ’s are permitted during the summer months in rural areas Towels We provide towels for the bathrooms only, please bring your own for the pool and the beach. Television We have basic Portuguese internet television, X box and a DVD player. You can connect to You tube, Netflix etc. using your own accounts. Local Restaurants There are 2 restaurants within walking distance (cash only), from the end of our lane carry straight on through the hamlet of houses to the end of the road then turn left down the hill at the end turn right towards the village of Vale Fuzeiros. 1. O’GRALHA is a ten minute walk (closed on Mondays) open in the evenings 2.CASA DA VINHA is a 15 minute walk (closed on Thursdays). open for lunch only 3. CAFE SILVA is a further 10 minutes on. (open for lunch only) They are all country restaurants, very friendly and very good value, a set lunch is around €12 (Including wine and a dessert) an evening meal is around €15-20 Walking There are 3 well marked Trails nearby, with views of the beautiful country side Supermarkets There is a well stocked supermarket in Amorosa – approx 2km. You drive past it on the way to the house. It is open 10 am to 10pm seven days a week but closes for a long lunch break. There are 2 good-sized supermarkets in Sao Bartholomeu de Messines Intermarche, which also has petrol, and Continente. You will also find a daily market open till midday selling fresh local produce, fruit, veg, fish, bread etc. There are also cash points, a pharmacy, cafes and several other shops. Silves approx 20 minutes A large Moorish town with a lovely castle and Church at the top of the hill and a river and play area at the bottom by the river. You will also find a daily market, shops plenty of restaurants. There is also a Lidl supermarket near the river opposite the large town - swimming pool car-park on the left just before you exit the town. For a large shopping centre including a supermarket, cinema’s , bowling, fast food restaurants lots of shops head to Algarve shopping in Guia off the N125 approx 30 minute drive. There is a similar centre in Portimao. The Local area The Funchal Reservoir is only 1.5 miles away, it takes around 40 minutes to walk there, it’s lovely for a swim and picnic or to go in the early evening as it begins to cool down to watch the sun setting. To walk there go to the end of our lane, turn right at the little house across the field down to the road, turn right again follow the road as far as you can and turn left keep walking until you see the reservoir, if you carry on walking a further 10 minutes there is a slip way down to the water, this is a good swimming spot. (it is advisable to wear shoes as the stones can be sharp.) There are several activities in the area including waterparks, Zoo Marine, and many more.
