The longer you stay the more you'll save! Deep discounts apply for monthly and 12-week stays so you can enjoy this fabulous work-life balance for longer. Located on the 21st floor in one of San Jose's hippest buildings, this apartment overlooks the trendy areas of Barrio Escalante and La Cali – two happening neighborhoods for food, drink, nightlife and culture lovers. You’ll have 50 square meters to make your home for the duration of your stay, complete with an open kitchen and living area, one bedroom, one bathroom, and a spectacular balcony to cozy up on with a glass of wine and the stunning city lights of the Central Valley twinkling in the distance. The windows have black-out shades for you to enjoy your beauty rest in either the queen bed or the comfy couch that serves as a small single bed. The interior has industrial finishes such as polished concrete floors and exposed concrete ceilings. From the bedrooms and balcony you'll enjoy spectacular views looking west over downtown San José. While Barrio Escalante offers an array of bars and restaurants to explore, our kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances to suit all your cooking and cleaning needs. You will love the lifestyle! Besides enjoying the comfort of this brand new apartment, you can also enjoy the amazing amenities of the building including but not limited to a full gym, swimming pool, lounge, bar and laundry area. As guest you can make use of the pool and gym on the 7th floor of the building. You will also have access to beautifully decorated lounging areas and meeting rooms. Use of some of these areas on the 29th floor may need to be reserved in advanced. There is also a laundry area available on the 6th floor. I am Costa Rican but I live abroad in Amsterdam. I am available via the messaging services in the Airbnb application. We do our best to respond any inquiries as soon as possible despite the time difference. Access to the apartment is arranged with the doorman and for urgent matters there's a local contact available. Barrio Escalante is an old residential neighborhood that has grown in recent years into a thriving cultural hub. Its streets are lined with multicultural restaurants, cute cafes, trendy bars, and bakeries. Locals and visitors flock to this neighborhood for its happening food scene day or night. Barrio Escalante is also known for its food festivals, celebrating cuisines from all around the globe. During these festivals, restaurants take to the streets to offer up special menus along with vendors of art and handmade goods and live musicians. URBN-21 is just a short walk from hot spots like Calle 33 (Escalante’s main street), Los Yoses, and La California. Parking can be tricky, so staying at URBN-21 gives you the freedom to explore the area on foot, hassle-free. There is so much culture to explore on this side of the city – give it a taste by staying at URBN-21. Quotes over Barrio Escalante: "Known for its expansive, mid-20th-century residences, the neighborhood called Escalante is now filled with restaurants and bars as well, along with shops that sell locally designed objects. The food scene in Escalante has turned it into a bit of a destination, night and day. The neighborhood’s streets are home to the new Festival La Luz food events, featuring more than 40 stands and food trucks. The festivals, which happen at different times of the year and are announced by posters and in the paper, tend to be organized around a culinary theme—say, Costa Rican, Italian, Mexican—and so far, they’ve been a smash." - AFAR "Formerly a residential enclave, the streets of this increasingly hip neighborhood are now lined with dozens of restaurants, cafes, bakeries and bars. The largest concentration of eateries stretches along Calle 33 and has been dubbed Paseo Gastronómico La Luz (La Luz Restaurant Promenade) in honor of a small grocery store that used to stand on the street’s corner facing Avenida Central. Crowds of foodies descend on Barrio Escalante on weekend evenings, when finding parking becomes a very tall order." - Lonely Planet Car:The apartment includes one secured parking space and depending on traffic it's within 30 to 45 minutes from the international airport. Bus: within a couple of blocks from the apartment you will find bus stops to the center and east of the city. Train: the Atlantic Train Station is just a short 5 minute walk from the apartment. From this station you can travel by train to Cartago and Alajuela. Visit http://www.incofer.go.cr/ for more information. NOISE: The building is located next to the busiest avenue between downtown San José and the Eastern suburbs. The location is also a few blocks away from a train station and there are trainlines to the North and to the South of the building. The workday starts early in Costa Rica and despite being 21 floors above street level the noise from cars, buses but specially trains starts from early in the morning. Earplugs are highly recommended for light sleepers. This is not a suitable location for someone who needs absolute quiet. AIR CONDITIONING: This unit does not have air conditioning. The temperature range in San Jose is between 18 and 26 degrees Celsius (65 to 79 Fahrenheit) year round. This is reasonably comfortable by most standards. We feel strongly that an air conditioner is an invitation to waste energy and that there is no such thing as an environmentally friendly air conditioner.
