Keep it simple at this peaceful and centrally-located place that is minutes from downtown and the most beautiful hiking trails in Mendocino begin on property! This coastal forest cabin is the only property with access to the little known south headlands beach trail of Russian Gulch State Park. Bring your hiking shoes. Just steps from the beach and other connecting trails like the famous waterfall trail, Mendocino headlands trail, and the north headlands trail. Come experience the magic! This new cozy cabin is located on over an acre of coastal forest that backs up to Russian Gulch State Park and marine reserve. Plenty of parking on site. Historic down town Mendocino is a 2 min drive or a 1.3 mile walk along the ocean trails. Available for guest needs. Host’s home is on the same property and we are around to help. Sight seeing and local advice gladly provided. Located at the end of a cul-de-sac in a very quiet private neighborhood. Waves can be heard crashing against the cliffs on calm nights seals and sea lions barks can be heard. Just steps from the beach and the Russian gulch trail system. With direct private access to the park's trail system you can walk to the famous waterfall trail, view the stunning arch bridge over the sandy beach and calm water cove, take the north headlands trail to the churning 'devil's punch bowl', or hike the south trail into the redwoods where many old growth trees are still standing tall. During the off season October - May you will likely have the beaches and trails to yourself. In the busier summer months you have private free access to the less traveled state park trails and zero parking issues to worry about. The beach, coves, and bluff overlooks accessible on foot from the cabin are popular with kayaker, divers, whale watchers, fishermen. Russian Gulch is one of the most protected coves on the Mendocino Coast, it can provide some of the most clear and calm waters in Northern California when conditions are right. Walk, bike, or drive. Just a half mile to the historic Mendocino Village. The Mendocino village has everything you need for your stay and the grocery store is open until 10pm. Walk to town! The trail follows the coastal bluffs overlooking the ocean. The back yard trail does not require crossing any roads or highways as it is directly attached to Russian Gulch State Park. Ample secure parking on site. Bring a bike and enjoy miles of bike trails both on pavement and the dirt. Outdoor fire pit and charcoal BBQ available upon request.
