The Mintaro Post Office was purpose built by the Government in 1884 and is the most recent of Mintaro’s colonial buildings. This Government building passed to private contract in 1930 and remains a postal agency today. The rear of the Post Office has been transformed into a luxurious B&B still maintaining the original old world charm. Enjoy a romantic getaway for two or holiday with friends. Features include 2 QS bedrooms, claw bath, wood fire, large living areas and fully equipped kitchen. The space The Mintaro Post Office front two rooms are dedicated to the postal agency. The Post Office is open from 9.00am to 10.00am Monday to Friday to service the local Mintaro residents and outlying community. The remainder of the building - is the dedicated Post Office residence, which has been described by guests as having a beautiful ambience - tastefully decorated and everything you could possibly need - just pack your suitcase. The two QS bedrooms are very private and whilst there is only one bathroom with toilet, shower and claw bath the additional 0.5 bathroom/laundry includes toilet and basin and all toiletries and accessories. There is a slow combustion heater in the lounge to enjoy in the cooler months from Easter to the October long weekend and split system air-conditioning units to provide comfort all year round. The kitchen and separate dining room are fully equipped and the separate lounge opens onto a patio where you can sit and enjoy a glass of Clare Valley wine while enjoying the beautiful view. Or enjoy breakfast on the patio and take in the beauty of a Mintaro sunrise. Guest access The Magpie and Stump Hotel is walking distance from the Mintaro Post Office and is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner - it is the perfect place to meet the locals on a Friday night and learn about the history of Mintaro. Reillys Wines is open seven days a week for lunch and wine tasting and you can enjoy coffee and a snack overlooking their vineyard. The famous Martindale Hall is open for visitors every day except Tuesday, and you can enjoy a fun time with the family at the Mintaro Maze on weekends and all through the school holidays. A great place for an ice cream or a coffee. So many wineries and restaurants on your doorstep and we can provide bikes on request for those guests who enjoy cycling. We would be delighted to provide you with a memorable stay in Mintaro - the Jewel in the Crown of the Clare Valley. Other things to note The best part about staying at the Historic Mintaro Post Office is that you are walking distance to everything that Mintaro has to offer including cellar doors, restaurants and the Magpie and Stump Hotel. Only a short drive to more cellar doors and restaurants on the outskirts of Clare. Personalised tours can be arranged and there is a Taxi to and from Clare.
