Description

The Old Music Room is in the beautiful and special village of Geldeston, in the Broads National Park. It’s a super-insulated ecologically-built guest house clad in traditional oak boarding, with a living wild-flower roof and stunning views directly out over the Waveney Valley. Geldeston is a glorious place to be and enjoyed by many visitors. The village is on the river Waveney with lots of places to access the river, very popular with walkers, cyclists and boaters. Walking distance to 2 pubs. The space This used to be our music room (hence the name) and we have kept that spirit very much alive with many instruments used for furniture, lights and décor. It’s a very large bright room with double bed, single sofa bed, bathroom, dining table, tv, stereo, microwave, kettle, toaster, fibreoptic broadband. There is also table football and lots of books and games. We take higiene very seriously. We disinfect the cottage everytime and wash at hight temperatures all the bed clothing and towels. Only one person, my wife, goes in to clean the space, she wears gloves and mask. We do our best to make you feel confortable. This is countryside living in a beautiful part of the world, we absolutely love it here. Our chickens and cats roam free in the garden and cows graze on the valley water meadows. Guests have access to our large garden which includes a barbecue, chairs, hammocks, treehouse etc. (If you have a dog that’s fine so long as they are kept on a lead and the poop on our garden is picked up – please tell us if you have a pet). Guest access There are two pubs in the village a short walk away – both doing food and very good. Geldeston Locks is a lovely community-owned pub on the river and a very popular place for river swimming, canoeing and paddle-boarding. The Wherry Pub in the village is also great and much-loved by us and the local community. We are a short drive from the pretty Waveney Valley market towns of Beccles and Bungay. Beccles is the nearest (5mins) with a good range of shops and some great bars, cafes and restaurants. Beccles also has train station with direct connections to London Liverpool Street. We are 25 mins from the beautiful historic city of Norwich, and not far from a great range of places on the coast including Southwold, Dunwich, Walberswick, Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Winterton, Aldeburgh, North Norfolk etc We work in the Arts (I am a circus festival director and my partner is a professional juggler from Portugal). We are especially knowledgeable about the interesting diverse and fast-growing culture offer of Great Yarmouth which is a major centre for Circus and also has an amazing ‘little Portugal’ scene that is not as known as it should be. We will be very happy to suggest places to go and things to see. There is car parking on our driveway and places you can leave bicycles if come with them (we are very pro-bicycle, I was a mad-keen amateur racing cyclist back in the day...) Other things to note We are creative liberal internationalists and will be especially pleased to welcome visitors from different countries and cultures. We speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Catalan.
