We are so pleased to offer a sanctuary to nesting American Bald Eagles, Great Blue Heron, Royal White Mute Swans, Mallard Ducks and more. You never know what you will see here at our Swan Sanctuary. We are very small, but a complete ECO system with wetlands, oxygen field, woods and water that nourishes the area wildlife. Sanctuary of the Swan began as a Farmstead in 1906. Now, we serve the community as a little nature reserve dedicated to White Mute Swans, waterfowl and conservation. Guests sleep restored Apartments and Cabin built by homesteaders during 1930's. It graced the Reading Eagle on October 19, 1941. The Headline, "Woman at Work - She Helps Her Family Build Home", is a tribute to the immigrants from all over the world who fashion an amazing life from nothing. The apartment is original and built during the 1930-40's. It took 8 years to build this home. Every stone was picked up by hand by two boys. The apartment was a payment in kind for 8 years of labor. The boys carried masonry tools to school daily. We are located three miles from Daniel Boone Homestead. Easy access to route 422 and 562. Explore historic Berks County PA. Parking is available on site, right in front of three car garage. Limit one car per guest. We do not have a back yard for guests, but rather a side yard in it's place. We are Sanctuary of the Swan, a tiny private ECO Nature Retreat. Guests may attend daily Swan feedings. We accept dogs only, not every breed. We do not accept cats or any other type of animal. We followed the same guidelines as our US Military. Please be sure to read comprehensive dog policy. i.e. we do not accept Pitt Bulls or other breeds that we can not insure. Dog owners booking the Cabin are required to pay a refundable security DP. Long term guests, with stays over 7 days, have complete access to the washer and dryer. Other things to note OUR ENHANCED CLEANING PROTOCOL CHALLENGE: Due to Covid-19, we require a 6 hr window to prepare for your stay, possibly less. Please inquire if you need an immediate booking prior to instant booking. We’re committed to AN ENHANCED CLEANING PROTOCOL which was developed in partnership with experts in health and hospitality. Here’s what we’ve done to clean and sanitize the space This process takes between 6-8 hours. 1.We use only approved products. clean in mask & gloves. We clean without chemicals. 2.We clean everything prior to sanitizing. We wash down walls with soap and water. 3.We provide extra cleaning supplies, so you can clean as you stay. (But, only if you want to.) 4.All high-touch surfaces have been sanitized, down to the doorknob, per CDC guidelines. 5.All of your bedding has been washed in hot water, including the comforter! 6.There are more than 24 hours between guests. We sanitize everything so you can just relax, enjoy your stay and watch the swans swim by. At the end of your stay, you simply take your belongings & food, take our your trash and do your dishes.
