Just a mile from I-10, and a great base to explore the Sky Islands (SE Arizona), this quiet room has views of an old west movie set! The house is 10 min from stores in Benson, and 40 min from the many attractions in Tucson. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, so well-behaved pets are welcome. You can even say hi to Wrangler, Dooley, and Levi, my horses & burro! Away from the city lights, so the stars are amazing! I have two dogs and two cats, so you should be ok with animals. Your well-behaved pet is welcome with approval (please send me an inquiry first). I also have three equines, which you are welcome to look at and talk to, but please don't touch or feed them until I've introduced you. The kitchen is fully stocked and there is space in the refrigerator and freezer for any food you might bring. There is medium-roast coffee, half and half, and a small coffee maker. You are also welcome to hang out in the living room. There is a lovely front porch with views of the mountains to sit on and have your morning coffee. If you are traveling with a dog, I have a small yard that you can let them out in while you are at the house. The space is also safe for off-leash if your dog is well-trained. You'll be in a semi-rural area, so it's calm and quiet. You can see eight mountain ranges, and over 30 miles away. It's about half a mile from the railroad, so you can hear the trains, though they aren't bothersome to most. I also have a rooster, but there are earplugs available. I've hiked and backpacked all over the Sky Islands, and am happy to help you plan your trip. I'm a bit over a mile on a paved road off the interstate, then ~1/4 mi on good dirt road to the house. Lots of space for parking on gravel/dirt area. I also have space to park a trailer or uhaul. I work in Tucson some days and telecommute others, but will be around most mornings and evenings and I'm happy to give you tips on places to visit. I'm happy to socialize sometimes, but I can also hang out in my room and give you more privacy in the rest of the house. The house is in a semi-rural, higher elevation grassland near Tucson, so it's about 10 degrees cooler than town, even more at night. It's within an hour of dozens of trailheads if you like hiking or just having a picnic. It's a great stopover on a roadtrip, just 2-3 minutes off of I-10. It's also centrally located to explore southeastern Arizona! - 20 min from the Arizona Trail - 20 min from Kartchner Caverns State Park - 30 min from Tombstone - 30 min from the San Pedro River - 40 min from Tucson - 45 min from the Sonoita wine country - 45 min from the Huachuca Mountains, with abundant hiking trails and birding. Close to multiple other mountain ranges with hundreds of trails. - 55 min from Saguaro National Park East and 75 min from Saguaro National Park West - 1 hr from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum -1 hr from climbing destinations in Cochise Stronghold and the Catalina Mountains. There are rural dirt roads to walk on nearby. If you'd like to stay for 2 weeks or more, but a few of the dates are blocked, message me. I may be out of town, but able to accommodate longer stays. While I am within commuting distance of Tucson, it is still a 40 min drive to downtown, so if you really want to be in town, you may want to look elsewhere. There is a Dollar General for quick errands a mile away, and a full grocery store and other shops 10 min down the freeway.
