The space Escape to the Buffalo House, a historic log cabin built in 1932 that oozes charm and character. It's the first prototype of a log home in the village, decorated in an antique hunting cabin style from the 1930s with quirky touches throughout. The main room features fascinating taxidermy that's been there for years, adding to the cabin's unique ambiance. Spread over two floors, the main floor has four bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a screened-in porch, and a back porch. There are plenty of seating areas and tables throughout, including a dedicated workspace/office with high-speed wifi, making it ideal for remote work or study. You'll find a games cupboard full of games, puzzles, and many New Yorker jigsaw puzzles, as well as 2 Smart TV's with YouTube TV and the ability to log into all of your streaming apps. The basement is accessible from the driveway or internal staircase, and features a second bathroom, laundry facilities and a storage area. The kids will love Michiana's newly renovated park which is only a few streets away, offering basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts - we provide a pickleball set for your use. We are a 3 minute walk to the steps down to the stunning beaches of Lake Michigan! Beach access is just down the stairs to the lake in Michiana, with all beaches reachable via Lake Shore Drive, which is just one block away. Our closest beach access is Stop 40 and Stop 41.5 on Lakeshore Drive. Spend your summer days on the beach at the lake and you will never want to leave. We now allow pets at the cabin (it makes for a lot of happy dogs!) so if you are planning to bring a pet with you please ensure that you add the pet as a guest when you are booking. Beach Rules : If you are bringing a dog between Memorial Day & Labor Day dogs are only allowed on the beach before 11am EST and after 6pm EST. Please also note - as required by the State of Michigan, all dogs must be on a leash even at the beach and at all public areas. (Michigan, Sec. 287.262; Ord. 235-45) We do have a $125 pet fee per stay to cover extra cleaning and any damages. PLEASE NOTE : If you have a pet that is not included in the booking please note that we will charge for the pet during your stay/after your stay to cover extra cleaning charges that we have to cover. Thank you for understanding. Guest access You will have the entire house to yourself. We have neighbors around the cabin in the village but most homes are second homes and so it is pretty quiet during the week, and most weekends. Summer weekends are busier at the beach but the village remains a sanctuary. Other things to note We are one block from the lake. It is a less than a minute walk to the lake and less than a 5 minute walk to the beach off Lakeshore Drive. The beaches all have stairs that lead down to the sand. Any guest at the cabin is able to use any beach in Michiana. *Please note that the Village of Michiana requires each host to have a form completed by each group of guests.
