Description
Pikelet sits beneath the pyramid of Dufton Pike in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Pennine Way (near Cross Fell and High Cup Nick) and the Cumbria Cycle Way. The property adjoins our 18th century home, formerly The Black Bull Inn, on the village green just a few doors down from The Stag. It's perfect for exploring the fells of the North Pennines, a country walk or ride, visiting the towns and villages of the Eden Valley or just taking time out surrounded by books and art. The space Pikelet is on the top floor of a converted and spacious stone barn with its own access (up a flight of steps) . There is an entrance porch leading to a large open plan area with books, plants and soft furnishings for relaxing, dining and cooking in the well-equipped kitchen space. The apartment has its own balcony, a double bedroom with organic, professionally-laundered sheets and an adjoining bathroom with a large rainshower. There is also a day bed which can be used for an additional guest. From May 2026 The Dufton Hoarde, a fictional museum of funerary figures unearthed from a disused lead mine in the North Pennines, will also be open on site. Guest access Pikelet is for the exclusive use of guests. The laundry (with washing machine and freezer) can be accessed by arrangement. The Reading Room is currently being refurbished for the opening of The Dufton Hoarde in May 2026. Dawn is very happy to arrange guests visits to the Hoarde. Other things to note Dawn is an artist and her work focuses on drawing out the stories from the wild and remote landscape of the Eden Valley. Derek is a fellrunner with a love of maps. We offer a relaxed welcome to all our guests, giving you space for an uninterrupted getaway but are equally happy to chat and discuss the best local walking, running and cycling routes, activities and places to visit.
