IG: @catskillscedarhouse Shandaken STR License 2022-STR-AO-043 The space Welcome to the Catskills Cedar House! Our home was built in 1989 as a weekend ski house, clad in cedar on the inside and out. We've recently updated it with new finishes, careful attention to design, and modern conveniences – large fridge with ice-maker, chef’s 5-burner gas range, heated floors, rainfall shower heads, deep-soaking tub, and newly upgraded heating and A/C system. The chalet-style home is nestled at the foot of a mountain in the central Catskills and surrounded by woods on the north, east, and southern sides of the house. There are two large decks on the east and south sides of the house, and a large lawn with a fire pit on the west side. Inside, the large open chef’s kitchen has everything you might need to cook a big meal with friends and family. The kitchen is equipped with brand new appliances, including a chef’s gas range and quiet dishwasher, professional stainless steel cookware, German chef’s knives, Breville toaster oven, Moccamaster drip coffee, French press and Chemex coffee makers, and all the cooking and baking essentials you might need. There will also be olive oil, salt, pepper, and some other basics (sugar, coffee, tea) available. There is also a gas BBQ grill. (And if you don’t feel like cooking, we have lots of favourite restaurants nearby.) The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen, making the space feel open and inviting. In the main living area, southern exposure and four skylights keep the room bright, and a cast iron wood-burning stove keeps it cozy. It’s the perfect spot to lounge with a book or watch a movie in surround sound. Guests have access to a variety of streaming services, a Bluetooth speaker for music, and lots of board games, cards, and puzzles for long evenings and light mornings. There are two bedrooms with queen-sized beds (one on the main floor, and one on the second floor), each with a private patio/balcony. The largest bedroom (second floor) has a King-sized bed and a workspace with a Herman Miller ergonomic chair, and a monitor to use if you’d like. Each bedroom has luxe Brooklinen white cotton bed linens and enough space to store your luggage and unpack clothes (please note the bedroom on the main floor does not have closet access). There are two bathrooms, one on each floor, each with heated flooring adjustable to your comfort. The downstairs bathroom has a rainfall shower head, and the larger upstairs bathroom has a shower and deep soaking tub. Dogs permitted on a case-by-case basis - please check in with us first- and for an extra cleaning fee. Available for families: - a folding Pack 'n Play & mattress (please bring your own crib sheets) - high chair - kids plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery - baby gates you can install at the base and top of the stairs Guest access Guests have access to the entire home and its surrounding property. You'll enter using a unique key code, so you can come and go without waiting on a host. You'll need a car to get around the area. There is a driveway, which can fit 3-4 cars, and a garage that we can provide access to upon request. Other things to note - Our home is in the woods - there may be critters around! Please take care, and IMPORTANT: please check carefully for ticks!!! - Though we love pets, we can't accept all. Please get in touch if you'd like to bring a pet, and we'll review on a case-by-case basis. Dogs under 35 lbs/16kg considered for an extra cleaning fee. - The Wi-Fi is very fast and never goes out, so you will only disconnect if you choose! - In winter months, the road and driveway will be plowed regularly but may be icy.
