Grooms Cottage by Sheriff Hutton Castle, Near York

Grooms Cottage is on a private estate right next to the ruins of Sheriff Hutton Castle. The property is in a peaceful setting but only two minutes walk away from the village pub and post office/general store. Our cottage was completely renovated in 2021 and is in a great location for walkers, cyclists, and explorers. It’s about 10 miles from both York and Malton, Castle Howard is under 6 miles away, and the coast can be reached in under an hour. Grooms Cottage sleeps 4 guests+2 babies +dogs The space The property was formerly a home to grooms on the farm and where villagers of old would come to buy milk. The old milk bell still remains! Lovingly restored and renovated in 2021, Grooms Cottage is a warm, clean, and characterful space with high quality modern fixtures and fittings. The Ground floor and upstairs bathroom have underfloor heating. Radiators heat the carpeted bedrooms. GROUND FLOOR: Kitchen: a stable door opens onto the dining area of the kitchen where there is a large oak table with bench and chairs to seat six. The kitchen is a light open plan space with Nespresso coffee machine, induction hob with extractor hood, electric oven, integrated microwave&grill, fridge with a small freezer compartment, and a dishwasher. Sitting Room: airy space leading off the kitchen with a three seater ‘Loaf’ sofa with corner chaise longue and an arm chair. There is a Smart TV with Netflix and a box side table is home to board games, toys and books. Utility Room/Downstairs Toilet: with Washing Machine, Tumble Dryer, Toilet, Sink and coat pegs. There is a removable gate on the door between the sitting room and utility so that dogs can be contained. A large dog mat is also provided. Iron and ironing board, Hoover, mop & bucket are stored in this space. A separate external door leads onto the external brick paved patio with table and chairs. A Barbecue is available on request. FIRST FLOOR: Hall: small hall with full length mirror. Bathroom: Tiled with underfloor heating. Includes a Bath with double shower head over, shower screen, sink, toilet, mirror with light, and electric towel rail. Bedroom One: King Size French bed, bedside tables, wardrobe, chest of drawers, and a chair. There is ample room to set up a travel cot here if needed. Bedroom Two: Super King size Zip & Link bed that can also be split into 2 full size single beds, a bedside table, and wardrobe with side drawers. The space is suitable for families, couples, friends and business guests. The property can accommodate 4 guests plus a baby (or 2 if you have twins). Two well behaved dogs are welcome (£20 per stay applies, please enquire if wanting to bringing 3 dogs for our consideration). A welcome hamper is provided with our compliments and Molton Brown toiletries are available to use during your stay. Guest access A parking space is available directly outside Grooms Cottage. A second space if needed can be made available on request. There is a bus stop in the village opposite the post office where buses regularly travel to York, Malton, and the surrounding villages. Other things to note The Host family has access to the Farm House via the patio that separates the two properties. We promise to respect your privacy where possible. We have future plans to put in a separate driveway/access but unfortunately we’re not quite there yet!
