This cozy cottage known as "Casa Escuela" was originally a school house in the late 1890's, that belonged to my great grandfather and passed down generations. This newly remodeled home has an outside patio with beatiful views. It is within walking distance (1.5mile) to Georgia O’keeffe home, nearby Rio Chama, hiking to nearby caves. 1 mile from Hunting road (CR189), nearby grocery store known as Bode's. 10 miles to the Abiquiu Lake. Approximately 14 miles to Ghost Ranch, NM. A perfect getaway The space Casa Escuela is a small cottage, With New Central cooling added to the home for fresh summers! The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, the 2nd bedroom has a bunk bed with a full-on bottom and twin on the top. The mattresses are memory foam and comfortable, with puffy pillows. The bathroom provides a standup shower, small vanity, and toilet. There is a stackable washer/dryer unit for small loads. The kitchen has a full-size gas range stove with an oven as well as a refrigerator/freezer. There is a small microwave, a coffee pot. There are basic condiments in the refrigerator, mustard, ketchup, spices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, creamer, sugar, and honey in the cabinets. The living/dining room has a small kitchen table with 4 stools, a love seat couch, along with two chairs and a TV & DVD player. The home has WIFI to watch Netflix, etc. You must sign in to your own movie accounts. Guest access You will park in front of the cottage, outside the gate. You will open the gate with a code and get into the home with a keypad entry. Other things to note I suggest bringing jackets in the fall and mosquito repellent in the summers. The evenings can get cold and you want to be prepared. If you like fishing the Rio Chama River is a great place to fish. Going to a grocery store before coming to Abiquiu is a great idea as the Bode's general store may be limited and not have all the things you would like during your stay. However, Bode's is a great one-stop shop for groceries, necessities, fishing tackle, baked goods, hot meals, small gifts, and alcohol. There is a small restaurant in the store that serves delicious food, the hours of the restaurant are limited, I suggest calling the store and gathering that information.
