Todd Hills Hall Farmhouse & Vale Croft

With the Pennines on one side and the Lake District on the other, Todd Hills Hall and Vale Croft are a delight for friends and family holidays. This traditional sandstone farmhouse and cottage are set within private gated and sandstone walled gardens adjoining The Rowley Estates woodland and farmland and have superb views. Lovingly restored to an extremely high standard to offer 7 en-suite double bedrooms, 3 wood burning stoves and a dining room table that converts to a half size snooker table. The space Todd Hills farm house has six en-suite bedrooms, two wood burning stoves and an Aga as well as a side-by-side fridge in the kitchen. The dining room table converts to a half size snooker table, so you can all enjoy an evening or two polishing up your potting skills. Vale Croft is a sandstone bothy just a few steps across the courtyard garden from the farm house. It floods with light by day and shields you from the elements by night. An open plan living area offers a sandstone fireplace with wood burner at one end, a dining area in the centre and a fully equipped kitchen at the other. There's underfloor heating and oak ledged and braced doors throughout, high ceilings and breathtaking views. Melmerby is a small village which has The Old Village Bakery which serves breakfasts, lunches, coffees, homemade bread and cakes and has a lovely interior, ladies fashion and gift shop. There is also a wonderful village pub called The Shepherds Inn which is very welcoming and serves delicious food. All these are within a short walk from the farmhouse and cottage. Adjoining Todd Hills Hall Farmhouse and Vale Croft is Gill Beck Barn (sleeping 6 guests). These properties may be booked individually or together to sleep groups of up to 14 guests in the farm house and Vale Croft and up to 20 guests with exclusive use of the farmstead including Gill Beck Barn. Guest access Exclusive access Other things to note Our property provides for our guests complimentary use of a Weber charcoal BBQ, a cast iron fire pit and a log burning stove. Key safety points Adverse weather/wind conditions can cause a fire to become out of control. We strongly advise not lighting the Woodburner, BBQ or Fire Pit if winds are blowing hard (particularly if above 20 mph). Use a minimal number of fire lighters – one is sufficient Use kindling to start a small fire and then slowly add larger pieces of wood. Never over fill the fire equipment with wood. Ensure the ash pan door* remains closed when using the woodburner. Do not leave fires unattended. Keep all people and pets away from fires. Ensure the fire has been extinguished before going to bed. Make sure ashes are cold before disposing of them in the metal ash bucket. In case of an emergency Woodburner – immediately close the primary air vent on the front of the stove. Keep stove doors and vents shut. Fire Pit & BBQ – Use sand from the outdoor bucket to smother the fire.
