The Stargazer is a perfect staycation/vacation cottage, welcoming guests to stay on a 68 acre tree farm with 8 Nigerian dwarf goats, 6 sheep & three chubby dogs. The farm was recently quoted by Vinton Soil Water Conservation as a wildlife mecca, perfect for anyone looking to reconnect with nature & relax. Various species of birds, hawks, owls, deer, wild turkeys, geese & occasional bobcat may be spotted. By booking a stay, you are agreeing to make a donation to The Stargazer Trust. The space The Stargazer has a private entrance with personal parking space and digital keypad entrance. There is room for two cars if you have friends stop by during your stay. The tiny house has huge windows that capture exactly what we want to share with you…. The views ! The evening sunset & starry sky is best seen from the wrap around deck. The kitchen is filled with basic kitchen utensils, silverware, mugs and plates, wine glasses (incl. cork screw), coffee maker AND Keurig, four burner stove & oven, microwave & a full size refrigerator. Dish soap and kitchen towels are also provided. The bedroom has one queen size bed. Huge windows capture the view even in adverse weather or pull the blackout curtains to sleep in. Our guests can make themselves at home, staying 100% private. You are welcome to visit the goats and feed them crackers located right beside the house (for safety purposes, we ask you stay out of the barns). Since we are a working farm, there may be occasional farm equipment noises and some activity around the property, especially during spring with mowers etc. Equipment will never be running before the dew is dry, so late morning. On a clear night The Stargazer is a quiet retreat under an amazing starry sky perfect roasting marshmallows. Relax with drinks by the fire while listening to a symphony of spring peepers, birds and the occasional Whip-poor-will. We have plenty of firewood on hand for the fire ring. Vinton County is our home & we love our local village, the closeness to all trails in Hocking Hills & Lake Hope State Parks. In the warmer months, kayaking, paddle boarding, and pantooning on Lake Hope make for a great afternoon with minimal people as we are incredibly secluded. Guests who are interested in the local culture can also learn about the coal mining history, visit Lake Hope Furnace, Zaleski State Forest and go GHOST HUNTING at Moonville Tunnel. Outdoor activities like visiting waterfalls and caves, zip-lining, horseback riding, swimming in the lakes, and backpacking can all be found at the state parks. We are a 10 min drive from McArthur & 20 min from Old Man's Cave. For those who enjoy spa and massage treatments, we have the Spa at Ash Cave or at the Inn at Cedar Falls. Great yoga classes are offered in Athens. Home of the Ohio University if you're looking to party haha. If the weather makes you stay indoors, towns like Athens, Nelsonville and Chillicothe offer movie theaters, bowling and ice skating, besides many bars, boutiques and coffee shops. The Stargazer is truly located in the heart of it all, yet far enough away to still be nestled deep in the serene countryside.
