The Kipahulu Campgrounds at Haleakala National Park are open for camping! YOU MUST OBTAIN YOUR CAMPING PERMIT ONLINE FOR WAI'ANAPANAPA STATE PARK BEFORE RESERVING OUR CAMPING GEAR! Don’t lug your camping gear all the way to Hana. Enjoy the convenience of Hana Camp Gear for overnight camping at Kipahulu on Maui's East Side! Our Basic Plus - 2 Person Package: Tent, 2 sleeping bags, 2 foam pads, 2 pillows, and bright LED lantern. $65 plus Hawaii/Maui taxes. We provide only the camping gear. We provide only the tent packages. To camp at the Kipahulu Campgrounds at Haleakala National Park you must secure a camping permit online. Search for Kipahulu Campground. When you open the site, click scroll to the "Availability Grid". Choose your date and click "Add to Cart" to create your account with the National Park Service. After you have secured your permit we can approve your request to reserve a tent package. Campsite rates are $8.00 per night, payable to the park. Haleakala National Park is located off of the scenic Hana Highway, about 40 minutes past Hana town. The park features the Pools at ‘Ohe‘o Gulch. Pipiwai Trail is a spectacular hike through a dense bamboo forest with views of Makahiku Falls and Waimoku Falls. Two comfort stations provide two vault toilets each (4 total). No water or showers available. No electrical outlets. The Visitor Center is open daily and has historical displays as well as a small gift store. A comfort station is located outside of the Visitor Center with a water station and flush toilets. There are no water spigots for foot washing. Campers should note that flash floods and sudden rock falls can occur at any time! Swimming and wading in the streams is not recommended. Always stay out of closed areas. Hana Camp Gear is conveniently located only 5 minutes from Wai'anapanapa State Park. Pre-reserved gear may be picked up between 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM seven days a week. All gear must be returned by 11:00 AM on your day of departure. The two grocery stores in Hana are Hasegawa General Store (closes at 7PM) and Hana Ranch Store (closes at 7:30PM). There is one gas station, which closes around 7:30PM and is the only gas station in East Maui after you leave Paia town. By the way, if you have a Costco card, the Costco in Kahului has the lowest gas prices on the island and can be as much as $1.00 per gallon cheaper than other stations. There are also a number of roadside stands and food trucks serving excellent inexpensive plate lunches. Our favorite is Braddah Hutts BBQ, located just outside of Hana town and open for lunch from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm weekdays. Kilo's Kitchen is another favorite, open weekdays from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. Hana Farms, located about 5 minutes from Hana town is open from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM daily and serves delicious plate lunches and pizza. Open sporadically are food trucks featuring Thai and Mexican food. Nahiku Marketplace, located about 10 minutes before you enter Hana, has a number of food choices and is open during the midday hours. The Hana Ranch Restaurant is newly remodeled and open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
